Why Does God Honor Women in the NT, but Allow Polygamy in the OT?
This article was originally published in the June 2017 issue of Today in the Word, a publication of Moody Global Ministries. Question: Do Christians, Jews, and Muslims all pray to the same God? The Pope said we do, and in my conversations, I find that people seem puzzled and divided on the issue. Julie’s Answer: The
Despite being diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer, Nabeel Qureshi, a Christian apologist who converted from Islam, spoke this last weekend at a suburban Chicago church. Well, kind of. Since he couldn’t be at the church in person, Jim Nicodem, senior pastor of Christ Community Church in St. Charles, IL, went to visit Nabeel at his
Was Jesus a socialist? Obviously, the question is a bit anachronistic, seeing as socialism didn’t exist in the First Century. Yet, some have claimed that socialism is the political system that best embodies the virtues Jesus extolled, like the Golden Rule. Others say socialism and Jesus have nothing in common. After all, Jesus affirmed private
Our culture is becoming increasingly hostile toward the Christian worldview, and now more than ever, Christian schools must equip students to think biblically and to reject errant worldviews. Your child’s Christian school may already be doing this. However, if you are uncertain, take time to meet with the school administration. When I posted an article suggesting that Wheaton College professors need worldview training, I expected to get pushback – and I did. And honestly, I appreciate it when people take the time to engage, even when we disagree. So, thank you to everyone who tweeted, or commented on Facebook or my blog. What caught me
In a Chicago Tribune article published Monday, I suggested that Wheaton College professors need worldview training. I’m sure that may sound presumptuous, given that most of them hold doctoral degrees, which I do not. Yet, the recent brouhaha sparked by Dr. Larycia Hawkins’ statement that Muslims and Christians worship the same God has made it
Would you send your children to a Muslim school? I have yet to find a Christian parent who says yes to that question – and the reason is obvious. We don’t want our kids indoctrinated into Islam. We want them to become Christians. Yet, currently in the United States, 84% of Christian parents send their
What is at stake in the debate concerning whether Muslims and Christians worship the same God? This is the first question I posed to Dr. Miroslav Volf and Dr. Nabeel Qureshi in a podcast discussion on the topic I published earlier this week. Volf, who is the leading Protestant proponent of the same God view,
Kevin Miller, a pastor at my church, who’s also a Vice President at Christianity Today, gave an outstanding message this Sunday addressing the question of whether Muslims and Christians worship the same God. Given that my church is just blocks from Wheaton College, which is currently embroiled in an intense controversy over this issue, speaking
