U.S.-Based Imam Claims Mutilating Girls’ Genitals Necessary to Curb “Hypersexuality”

Young girls need to have the tip of their “sexual sensitive part” cut off or “hypersexuality” will take over society and women will turn to multiple partners to satisfy their rampant sexual desires.  So says Muslim Imam Shaker Elsayed, the resident imam at the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia.

“In societies where circumcision of girls is completely prohibited, hypersexuality takes over the entire society,” Elsayed said, “and a woman is not satisfied with one person, or two, or three. This is, God forbid, now happening, even in Muslim societies, where they prohibit circumcision.”

Elsayed’s comments were captured in a video posted by the Middle East Research Institute (MEMRI). What he is advocating is called female genital mutilation (FGM), a practice prevalent in countries with large Muslim majorities like Somalia and Egypt.  However, this horrific practice, which involves cutting off part or all of the external female genitalia is beginning to be practiced here in the United States.

According to the AHA Foundation, 500,000 women and young girls in the U.S. have suffered genital mutilation or are at risk of being mutilated.  And several weeks ago, authorities charged two Michigan doctors and one of their wives in the first criminal federal prosecution in the U.S. involving FGM. The three reportedly mutilated the genitals of two seven-year-old girls from Minnesota at a clinic in Livonia, Michigan.

All the defendants in the federal case belong to a Shia Islamic sect called Dawoodi Bohra.  The lawyers for one of the defendants says the procedure is religious in nature and that her client is being persecuted for her faith.

As I have written previously, FGM is most certainly an Islamic problem, even though some Muslim apologists like Reza Aslan like to argue otherwise.  However Elsayed doesn’t try to distance FGM from Islam.  Instead, he’s trying to make a case that FGM is good and necessary.

Elsayed says “mutilation” only occurs if the gynecologist cuts off more than the tip of the clitoris.  But as long as the doctor cuts off only the tip, it’s actually “the honorable thing to do.”

I feel sick.

If I were a Muslim woman I would be too afraid of the consequences of promiscuity (stoning, etc.). These extremist, barbaric men would not have to worry about their wives and daughters sleeping around if they would be gentlemen and treat their women like ladies!

Amen. And men are never “hypersexual”? Give me a break!

Mohammed was “hypersexual”. Don’t take my word, study the history and genesis of Islam and Mohammed.

There’s no such thing as ‘mild’ FGM. FGM is FGM is FGM.

FGM = FGM Type I, II, III, IV (WHO | Classification of female genital mutilation).

Islamic institutions such as the Indonesian Fatwa Council (MUI – Majelis Ulama Indonesia) do not call the “mild” forms of girls’ circumcision a mutilation (FGM). We see that differently. Even the least invasive form of girls’ circumcision has to be overcome, worldwide.

Flogging or stoning an adulterer is illegal, marrying a nine year old bride is illegal. Khatna resp. Khitan al-inath (Islamic FGM) has to be overcome, worldwide.

Khatna / Khitan al-inath (FGM) is religion (Sharia and Fiqh; Islam), for the Shafii madhhab of Sunni Islam and also for the Shia Bohra (see criminal case against Dr Jumana Nagarwala, Michigan, US) FGM is wajib (obligatory, a religious duty).

My real concern is that Europe, and the USA will soon legalise some “mild” forms of the Classification of FGM. Any form of FGM should be banned everywhere.
