This week, thousands of pro-life Americans will rally to affirm a self-evident truth — that every human life, regardless of its stage of development, is sacred and deserves protection. The largest March for Life will take place Thursday in Washington, D.C., but my family will be attending the March for Life in Chicago on Sunday, one of several smaller rallies nationwide. Organizers say they expect 3,000 to attend the Chicago March — a 50% increase over last year’s attendance.
The tide is turning on this issue as more Americans become aware that a baby in his mother’s womb is not a blob of tissue, but a human being fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of our Creator. Several months ago, I had the privilege of sharing this truth at Christ Community Church, a multi-campus megachurch in the Chicago suburbs. I truly believe abortion is the human rights issue of our day. And, as believers who know the truth, we must not remain silent, but boldly and compassionately expose this evil and call people to renounce it.
