Apologist Michael Brown is facing criticism for releasing his autobiography on how God can turn “broken people into world-changers,” despite an ongoing investigation into alleged sexual misconduct.

Brown and his publisher, Destiny Image Books, released Brown’s autobiography, “Living in the Line of Fire,” two days ago.  Meanwhile, Firefly, the firm hired by the board of Brown’s ministry, is actively investigating Brown.

“I find it unconscionable, unchristlike, tone-deaf, and extremely hurtful to the victims of clergy sexual abuse and spiritual abuse at the hands of Dr. Michael Brown that Destiny Image Publishers would release Mike’s autobiography while he’s being investigated for clergy sexual abuse,” wrote Shelanu TV President Ron Cantor on X. “Read the room! You could not have waited until the investigation was over?”

Brown has been accused of crossing physical boundaries in the early 2000s with a former secretary, by holding her hand, kissing her on the lips, and slapping her bottom.

Brown has denied any sexual component to the relationship but said he lacked judgment.

Brown also has been accused of engaging in an “inappropriate” relationship with a married congregant.

Brown has denied committing adultery, saying he had an “emotional, not a physical, tie” with her.

“Where your $ is, your heart will be there also,” wrote “Grit in the Wild” podcaster Adam Short on X. “They should add a chapter about his abuse. 100 yrs from now, ppl will praise Brown as a righteous man & will have no clue that he sexually abused ppl. We’re watching how they rewrite history to sanitize it.”

The Roys Report (TRR) emailed Brown to seek comment on the criticism, but Brown didn’t respond.

The board of the Line of Fire, Brown’s speaking ministry, has previously stated that Brown will take time off from public ministry during the investigation.

TRR emailed board spokesperson, Jonathan Bernis, to ask whether the board considers the book launch to violate that condition. But Bernis didn’t immediately respond. Bernis has provided an endorsement for the book, praising Brown’s “whole-hearted commitment to serve the Lord at any cost.”

Destiny Image had promoted Brown’s book on X in late February. But today, the book is not available on its website, though it’s still for sale on Amazon.

It’s also for sale on the website of Brown’s ministry, the Line of Fire.

TRR reached out to Destiny Image for comment, but the publisher did not immediately respond.

In the preface to his book, Brown addressed the question of why he should write a memoir right now.

“Why would someone write their own life story?” Brown’s book begins. “Is that a little self-aggrandizing? In my own case wouldn’t it be better to wait until others chose to write about me?”

Brown wrote in his preface that a few years ago, two friends had told him God wanted Brown to write the book, including Brown’s full conversion story. Brown grew up in a Jewish family in New York but rebelled with drugs and rock and roll until he started attending a church as a 16-year-old with bandmates.

In his book, Brown wrote that when he finally decided to start writing his book, he also believed God wanted him to do it.

“(O)nce I started writing, I was literally shocked by the sense of divine destiny on me, experiencing a powerful sense of His presence as I wrote, with the words pouring out as fast (sic) I could type,” Brown wrote.

Brown wrote next that God has often sent someone at the right time into his life to change him.

“I was also staggered with the realization of how many times He sent just the right person to me at the right time, altering the course of my life, and how many times He intervened to save me from going down the wrong path, at times literally saving my life,” Brown wrote.

However, several whistleblowers have previously said they made multiple attempts to confront Brown’s inappropriate behavior with his secretary. But they said Brown downplayed the matter and verbally attacked them.

Ron Cantor recently posted on X about his own experience confronting Brown in October 2024.

“This situation with Dr. Michael Brown is so sad because all he needed to do was confess to his elders and submit to discipline 23 years ago,” Cantor wrote. “He could’ve even done that in October 2024. It was not a career-ending sin—but the two inappropriate relationships were things you couldn’t move on from without elder involvement.”

Cantor wrote that he emailed back and forth with Brown in October 2024 with a tone of “love and compassion.” But Cantor wrote that Brown then turned on him.

“He told my peer leaders in Tikkun that I was trying to destroy his life and ministry and that I was being used by Satan to keep him from his efforts to bring revival and cultural reformation,” Cantor wrote.

Today Cantor called Brown’s book “narcissistic.”

“Ironically, the first line of the book is: ‘Why would anyone write their own life story? Isn’t that a little self-aggrandizing?’ In a word, YES!” Cantor wrote. “Especially when the person who is writing their own life story has been exposed for evading responsibility for sexual abuse for 23 years at the very time his book comes out . . . So yeah, it’s a bit rich—not to mention narcissistic.”

Other endorsers for the book include James Robison, founder and president of LIFE Outreach International; John Cooper, singer for Christian band Skillet; R.T. Kendall, former minister for Westminster Chapel; Paul Wilbur, songwriter and worship leader, Asher Intrater, president of Tikkun Global ; Randy Clark, overseer of the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening; Pastor Mike Signorelli of V1 Church; and Daniel Kolenda, president of Christ for All Nations.

  1. In his special mind, God led him to write about himself but not confess his abuse.

The more Brown ignores the feelings of people he hurt, the more they are stirred up to speak out.

He is trolling those he hurt, daring them to speak up.

    His train wreck continues…

  2. This is the same Michael Brown who joined with other Charismatic and Messianic leaders in March 2024 declaring Mike Bickle “unfit and disqualified” from ministry after reports of clergy sexual abuse were disclosed (and later investigated and confirmed by Firefly…the same entity investigating Brown). It is arrogant and narcissistic of Dr. Brown to promote his autobiography and circumvent his board’s admonition to suspend ministry during this investigative process. Jesus would say ,”you hypocrite and viper!” Kudos to Ron Cantor for confronting Brown on his behavior.

  3. I wonder what King David would really say? Dear, Mike Brown, while I didn’t write about my life, those who did, had my permission to talk about all my failures because I didn’t want any one to idolize me and they could learn from my mistakes, said David. Oh boy, said Dr Brown, I want to go down in history as a saint, like in the catholic church but the charismatic church. As a hero for revival, it’s better people don’t know my serious screw ups. I see, replies King David, I’m thinking your kinda foolish and still lack good judgement! The conversation ended with tension. King David scratched his head and worried he might not see Dr. Brown one day in heaven.

  4. Thanks for including a screenshot of the promotional image. The subtitle “Moral sanity, spiritual clarity” is, uhm, rather ironic. Sometimes we find ourselves in the line of fire due to our own sinful choices.

  5. People keep getting confused about what a Christian is and most clearly is not. The greatest in the Kingdom are the most humble who serve without demanding recognition. They are not narcissistic. That is a trait of the Unholy one. You will not find a single narcissist in heaven or else Jesus is a liar. You will not find a liar like these fools of this anti-Christ ministry. And you will not find anyone who calls those the Holy Spirit has sent to confront sin as “servants of the Devil.” Way too close to the unpardonable sin. You could logically argue that these people have committed that, and cannot be forgiven. Hence, these are the ones Jesus Christ called “A Brood of Vipers.” Jesus still says “Woe to you, How will you avoid hell!?” today. They are the religious hypocrites in it for fame, Mammon and power. Brown is a snake and so is his board.

    1. Ralph, you make some very strong pronouncements on a wide swath of people. I understand that our passions can rise when dealing with someone using their power to hurt others. I would caution against deciding who will and will not go to heaven. Scripture clearly teaches that our salvation is based on Faith in Christ, not on the uglier parts of our human nature. While I certainly agree that men like Brown are a stain on the Body of Christ, as are his protectors, I’m not sure we can judge his eternal soul. When we make such declarations, we are doing the same thing that Jesus warned against.

  6. The more I hear about Brown the more convinced I am is that he is a manipulative, lying bulling narcissist especially when he treats people who come against his heretical blasphemous false teacher friends on his show the way he does

  7. Having spent years defending every false prophet and false teacher the NAR ever vomited onto the church, it would appear Dr. Brown has lost all sense of right and wrong

The ego it takes to assume God’s work is being hindered without his participation is simply beyond belief.

  8. “Brown will take time off from public ministry during the investigation.”, that should have included publishing books, have to agree on that point. He may well get cleared, but stepping back would be wise.

  9. This phony “redemption” is not unique. Repentance is not necessary for those who abuse or cover up abuse. Rehabilitation an be purchased and the flow of books and speaking engagements can continue.

  10. “The work is Thine, O Christ our Lord, The cause for which we stand; And being Thine, ’twill overcome Its foes on every hand. Yet grains of wheat, before they grow, Are buried in the earth below; All that is old will perish there To form a life both new and fair: So too are we From self and sin made free — Through suff’ring Thou, O Christ didst go Unto Thy throne above, And leadest now the self-same way Those true in faith and love; So lead us, then, though suff’rings wait, To share Thy kingdom’s heav’nly state, Thy death has broken satan’s might, And leads the faithful to the light: Eternal light, From darkness into light. — Thou hast, O Saviour, led the way Through agony and death; O give, we pray, yet more and more Thy Spirit’s living breath! Send messengers o’er land and sea To bring Thy children all to Thee; Thy Name can save, Thy Name makes free; We consecrate ourselves to Thee As servants true, As warriors brave and true.” lyrics by Samuel Preiswerk and Felician von Zaremba; music by Johann Michael Haydn

The Kingdom of Yahshua advances, always, through darkness into His LIGHT – For Him, we have Hope today because of His Blood shed for us on Calvary’s Tree. He is healing all of us!

  11. This is probably more of a business decision than anything else. Brown’s image is losing some luster every day as podcasts and investigative reporters continue to expose his misdeeds. And the ongoing investigation may really tarnish him. So better for him to get what revenues he can now before no one’s interested in an autobiography written by a disgraced minister.

Though it’s also possible that he had to deliver a manuscript by a set date in order to receive an agreed-upon advance.

  12. Jesus teaches us Matthew 5:23-24
“‘Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.‘“

Did God really tell him to write this book?

  13. Seems like this is some form of damage control by Doc Brown. Too bad he can’t get in a car and go back to 1990 at 88 mph and tell himself not to be a sexual freak.

  14. Who would have so much time on their hands with nothing to do that they would read that book.
    Way too funny.
