Warning: This article contains graphic descriptions of sexual acts and may be triggering for some readers.

Christian apologist David Wood, known for his large platform and prison conversion, shocked viewers when he openly confessed during a recent livestream that he raped two girls, ages 13 and 15, prior to his conversion. He described the acts in disturbing detail without any seeming remorse.

The acts, he said, took place before he was imprisoned at age 18 for a violent attack on his father, and before Wood, now 49, said he became a Christian.

“The last two girls I had sex with before I went to jail, one was 13 and one was 15,” Wood told Ridvan Aydemir, a friend of Wood’s, known as “Apostate Prophet,” last week.

“She had big boobs and wide hips, but she was 13. I did not care. I just, I did not care back then,” Wood said in the clip near the end of a six-hour live stream that drew more than 150,000 views.

Wood runs the YouTube channel Apologetics Roadshow with 383,000 subscribers, with many of his videos directed against Islam. He spoke flippantly about his past criminal acts and did not express remorse. He added about his pre-conversion self: “I don’t care. One was 13 and one was 15 . . . I didn’t care back then,” he said.

The 13-year-old, he added, “flung herself at me,” though he conceded it was still wrong.

The chilling confession came despite Wood’s earlier prison conversion, while serving time for attempting to murder his father with a hammer on Thanksgiving Day, 1994. Diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, Wood told his audience he rejected conventional moral rules and described himself as a sociopath in the past.

The Roys Report (TRR) attempted to find contact information for Wood but initially was unsuccessful. We have since emailed him, requesting an interview, and he responded by poking fun at the request on social media.

Wood detailed sexually abusing the 15-year-old, saying, “The 15-year-old, to be fair, she told me she was 17 . . . I eventually knew she was 15. I still didn’t care. That girl, I had anal sex with that girl. Do you know what that would be in court?”

During the broadcast, “Apostate Prophet” appeared visibly unsettled and asked Wood to clarify that his actions happened prior to his conversion, which Wood did. Only a 6% of those who watched the video disliked it. Those defending Wood on social media noted that his disorder makes him incapable of showing proper emotion. Others pointed to the fact that Wood is responding to an altercation begun by another Christian apologist, Sam Shamoun, who threatened to expose Wood.

Eric Skwarczynski, host of the Preacher Boys Podcast, which also exposes abuse within Christian communities, called Wood’s confession “absolutely disgusting.” He expressed frustration over the ongoing problem of the “flippant discussion” of sexual abuse within segments of American Christianity.

Skwarczynski posted his commentary on YouTube, which included clips of Wood describing his actions in detail, but the platform removed the video citing an unspecified “violation of community standards.” He told TRR the video is available on his Patreon channel.

American Muslim scholar Daniel Haqiqatjou also expressed his disgust on his program, The Haqiqat Show.”

“They are airing dirty laundry and exposing themselves and some of it reaches the level of criminality,” Haqiqatjou said. “They are actually admitting to committing crimes . . . There could be criminal charges brought against them for what they are actually admitting to.

“They are admitting to sex abuse crimes like this is a joke, this is funny.”

Despite the severity of the sex crimes Wood described, he has never faced charges related to these allegations, and many worry about the statute of limitations preventing prosecution. Born in 1976, Wood is from the Bronx, New York. But according to his most recent tape, he was living in Virginia when he tried to kill his father. The rapes, he said, occurred while he was out on bond (presumably back home in Virginia) before trial.

Wood characterized his acts as part of a rebellious past before his Christian conversion.

The livestream comments section revealed polarized reactions. Some viewers praised Wood’s confession as part of a redemptive Christian conversion narrative. Others criticized the disturbing nature of his confession and the community’s acceptance of it.

Wood posted another video Monday, using criticism by Muslim viewers as a way to trash the Prophet Mohammed.

“I did nothing against their will,” he said of the sexual abuse. “Those girls approached me. But it’s statutory rape, right? Because girls that young can’t consent.

“There are always girls who would fling themselves at the bad boy in the room and I tended to be the bad boy. So yes, among other things, I had sex with a post-pubescent 13-year-old who, for some reason is at a party, and a post-pubescent 15-year-old. And if I hadn’t gotten locked up, I would have done worse than that.”

He promised more videos on the matter, where, “We’ll be talking about Mohammed, who did something with a pre-pubescent 9-year-old girl. What’s the word for sex with a 9-year-old girl, according to our dawa (Muslim) friends?”

Shaking the forefinger of his left hand at the camera, “rape,” he said, “and the person does it is what, according to our dawa friends? A pedophile. It’s official now.”

CORRECTION: TRR has made several corrections to this article, most notably the characterization of Wood as “boasting” about his sexual misconduct and Aydemir as laughing it off. This was the interpretation of the reporter, given the demeanor of both men. But Wood clearly acknowledges his behavior was wrong. We apologize for the mischaracterization. Also, we initially stated that Wood “rejects” moral conventions but changed to “rejected,” showing his change in views. TRR also removed a sentence claiming that the 6% dislike ratio of the video with Wood’s confession shows a “normalization” of the behavior Wood describes. TRR has instead inserted several sentences, which more accurately explain why the audience did not respond negatively to Wood’s confession. We also corrected a misquote.

  1. Wow, apparently Mark A Kellner forgot about a little known guy by the name of Saul. Saul became Paul after murdering 100’s of Christians. but according to Mark, Saul could never be a Christian.

The way David Wood talked about those things was describing who he was back then. He does not feel the same way the rest of us do. That is why he says he doesn’t care. It does not change the fact that God has changed his heart and he had a conversion.

It is also amazing that you write that Muhammed is a prophet. Mohammed fails the basic test of a prophet provided in the Bible. So as a Christian, you should not be writing that he is a prophet.

  2. Thank you for making the corrections to more accurately portray the truth. I was concerned about your reporting skills and integrity after reading it the first time after watching David’s video.
Even still, I would never entrust you with confessions of my sinful behaviors before I came to Jesus at age 17.
I have been a supporter and appreciate so very much your work of exposing sin IN THE CHURCH in order to bring repentance to her. Keep up the good work.

    1. The article is STILL factually wrong. Until Julie fixes the title, readers will continue to believe David confessed to something he never confessed to doing.

David Wood NEVER confessed to raping girls. He confessed that as a teenager himself, he had sex with other teenage girls while at a party where the girls were illegally drinking and getting stoned. He said that by Virginia law that would be considered statutory rape. That is a far cry from actual rape which is violent forced sex. David never claimed to have violent forced sex with these girls. And by law, the girls were not children. A child defined by Virginia law as being 12 and younger.

Julie fixed NOTHING. People are still calling David a rapist and a pedophile. He wasn’t and he isn’t. No one is condoning his actions, but you don’t have to go out of your way to lie about David and make it worse than it was. Besides….he was out on bail AFTER being convicted of attempting to murder his father. Can’t get much worse than that.

      1. Rape is rape, whether we like it or not. If I “fixed” the title, I would be sending the message to every survivor of statutory rape that the violation against them was somehow less heinous than other rapes. I refuse to do that because it would be perpetuating a falsehood.

  3. The headline (specifically “prior to his conversion”) is a perfect setup for the “It’s All Under the Blood” defense. Said defense was used by Mike Warnke when Cornerstone exposed him as a fraud.

  4. Julie Roys says she has corrected the factual errors in this piece. And yet the title still says that David Wood confessed to raping girls. He did NO such thing. He confessed that as an 18-year-old messed up teenager he had sex with a 13- and 15-year-old girl, which by Virgina law would be considered statutory rape at best.

Statutory rape is not rape. David Wood did NOT confess to raping anyone, only that he had sex with other teenage girls at a party where everyone was illegally drinking and smoking weed.

The whole title leads people to believe David did something he never said he did. Julie fixed nothing. The article is still egregiously wrong.

    1. “Statutory rape is not rape.” I would encourage you to speak to victims of statutory rape whose lives have been ravaged by what was done to them before making this statement ever again. Taking advantage of a 13-year-old who cannot give consent is a violent act. The law recognizes that and it’s about time Christians do, as well.

      1. I would encourage you to talk to 13-year-olds who think it is cool to have an older boyfriend. I guess I lived at a different time, in a different world than yours. Albeit, I am almost 70 years old, so older than you.

Girls who drink and get stoned at that age (at any age) are stupid and foolish. They also own some responsibility and accountability here. by Virginia law they also need to pay the price: a fine, community service, drug and alcohol education classes, and yes, possibly detention.

I’m not saying any of this is right, or legal or moral. But blame here cannot be one sided. And you make an assumption that because it was with a 13 year old, it was violent?. That does not make any sort of sense to me.

      2. Julie Roys,

I’ve not heard you once speak against minor “marriages” in sharia places where the whole entire concept of statutory rape doesn’t even exist: they just think it’s normal and don’t even consider that it could be wrong. Daniel Haqiqtajou defends this practice, yet you side with him, not David Wood.

So, this is why we feel you are being less than honest in your framing.

        1. TRR holds Christian ministries accountable, not Muslim ones. However, when I was on Moody Radio, I spoke about this plenty. Also, when we quote someone, it doesn’t at all mean we “side” with them. It’s just that as journalists, we have a duty to report all sides of an issue.

  5. Where can we report David Wood for his sex crimes? Even if it’s past the statute of limitations, law enforcement should know, and Wood should register as a sex offender. After all, if he’s truly repentant, then he wouldn’t balk at the consequences for his actions. What Special Victims’ Unit in Virginia would this be?

    1. The little I know about the law, there has to be a victim for David to be charged with a crime. If someone had come forward, I think we would have heard about it by now. Or at least David would have. He has been hiding in plain sight for 30 years.

He has never balked at the consequences for his actions. He said in a livestream a few days ago for all to see that if these women come forward and claim harm, he pleads guilty and accepts the consequences even if it is prison.

He has been faithful to his wife for some 20+ years. He has never had sex with a minor since that incident. Prison saved a lot of people from the harm David would have committed if he had still been on the streets. And meeting Randy in prison helped David to meet Jesus. He left prison a changed man.

But once an evil person, always an evil person, right? alcoholics can never change? Thieves can never change? Liars can never change? Jealous people can never change? Prideful people can never change? Only a teenager having sex with other teens can never change, by some trumped up standard I guess. Not in my Bible.
