Christian singer and songwriter Josh Wilson recently celebrated a special anniversary.

“I just passed seven years sober,” said Josh in a post on Instagram last week. “I meant to post this earlier, but the day came and went so quickly without me even realizing it was my sober anniversary.”

For years, Josh battled with an alcohol addiction, something he sings about in his latest album, Mental Help.

“There are songs about anxiety, depression, addiction, loss, and through it all, HOPE. There is always hope. There is help. You are here for a reason. God loves you. He isn’t mad at you. Truly.”

“I’ve struggled for many years with anxiety and panic attacks, and more recently with depression,” says Wilson on social media. “Until 2017, I self-medicated my anxiety with alcohol and eventually became addicted. By the grace of God (and with the help of family, friends, and therapy) I’m 7 years sober now.”

Wilson, known for his radio hits “Before the Morning” and “Savior, Please,” says the battle to stay clean was difficult, especially early in recovery.

“I didn’t think I was going to be able to make it,” Wilson explained.

As he celebrates seven years sober, Wilson says he is reminding anyone suffering from addiction that the journey is tough, but the outcome is worth it.

“It gets easier. It gets better. Just get through today. Take it a day at a time. Seven years. Thank you, God!”
