Embattled pastor John-Paul Miller—whose troubled history with his late wife, Mica Miller, made headlines worldwide—has quietly married his girlfriend in a private ceremony.

On Sunday, Miller married Suzanne “Suzie” Skinner in a private ceremony in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to footage captured by TikTok user Finding Neejo. The two have been dating over the past year, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Skinner is Miller’s third wife, following his 2016 divorce from Alison Williams, and the death last April of his second wife, Mica Miller, which multiple authorities deemed a suicide.

According to YouTube journalist Robbie Harvey—who posted additional images of the ceremony on X— John Paul’s father, Reginald Wayne Miller, was in attendance. Harvey added in a post that none of John Paul Miller’s four children were there, nor were either of Skinner’s two children.

Miller, formerly pastor of Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach’s Market Common neighborhood, faced controversy after his second wife’s sudden death and its shocking details, as The Roys Report (TRR) previously reported.

Mica Miller, 30, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, whose officers found her body at a park in Orrum, North Carolina.

Mica’s death garnered national attention, after her husband delivered a bizarre eulogy and family members claimed that John Paul had abused Mica. Shortly before her death, she had initiated divorce proceedings.

Following months of “Justice for Mica” protests and dwindling membership at the congregation, Solid Rock Church sold its property in February.

However, John Paul Miller formed another nonprofit, Mercy Church Ministries, earlier this year. According to a report in the Myrtle Beach Sun News, several Sunday services of Mercy Church were held in Solid Rock’s vacant building.

In April, another church announced it had acquired the building from a holding company. Renovations of the newly renamed Market Common Community Church, which is not affiliated with Miller or the previous church, are underway.

TRR reached out to John Paul Miller’s attorney Russell Long regarding any statement about Mr. Miller’s marriage and relationship with Ms. Skinner. Long declined to comment.

Despite multiple attempts through various contacts, TRR did not locate any current contact information for Mercy Church Ministries.

Controversies surround new wife, recent lawsuits

Similar to widower Miller, his new wife, Suzie Skinner, is a widow.

Her former husband, Chris Skinner, a quadriplegic veteran and beloved community figure, died on Sept. 6, 2021, when his wheelchair rolled into a neighborhood pool, as reported by local outlet WDPE. Chris Skinner drowned, and his death was ruled accidental.

According to a court affidavit filed last May by John Paul Miller’s first wife, Alison Williams, Chris Skinner had confronted Miller two weeks prior to Skinner’s death. He “asked (Miller) to leave his wife and children alone,” stated Williams.

In late March of this year, WPDE reported that the case regarding Skinner’s death was reopened. A week later, the Myrtle Beach Police Department confirmed its investigation into the matter had been “re-closed” and “no further information” was uncovered.

However, the Horry County Coroner’s Office stated to WPDE that their investigation into the Skinner case remains open.

“It is chilling to know that the spouses of both Suzie and (Miller) are now dead, from tragic events,” wrote Alison Williams in the court affidavit.

Recently, two lawsuits have been filed against John Paul Miller by separate women. They both claim that he assaulted them when they were minors, and he was a teacher at a Christian school.

Both suits allege that John Paul’s father, Reginald Wayne Miller, who founded and led an academy that was affiliated with his son’s church, covered up evidence of his son’s past misconduct.

”They used their positions of power to manipulate and exploit vulnerable victims while concealing their actions from the public,” stated the suit by “Jane Doe,” whose suit stated that she was 15 when Miller allegedly raped her.

Days after the second suit was filed, Miller denied the women’s allegations and countersued for defamation, according to an article in the Myrtle Beach Sun News

Miller’s attorney Long declined to comment on the active cases.

  1. imho it would have been better to wait for hard evidence to emerge before disembowling John-Paul Miller with a catchy article. In viable communities, there are independent professionals paid to reason whether or not a suspect is guilty of criminal and even moral offenses. Writing an unproven witness against our neighbor is an horrific act and may result in spiritual death, just as under God’s Law it once resulted in physical death.

  2. John Paul Miller is not a “widower” in God’s eyes. He is an adulterer.
His covenant (“first”) wife is still alive.
Maybe he should read Jesus’s words regarding marriage in Mark chapter 10….

  3. When Pharaoh king of Egypt unwittingly took Sarah wife of Abram into his house under false pretense (though partially true; Sarah was Abraham’s sister with same father), YHWH plagued Pharaoh and his entire house with great plagues because of Sarah, Abram’s wife. He however had not taken her to wife (no intimacy); yet the plagues came. Later, Abimelech, king of Gerar, also took Sarah into his house not realizing that she was Abram’s wife, having been told only that she was Abram’s sister; in a dream Alahim came to Abimelech and warned him not to touch Sarah because she was Abram’s wife. He told Abimelech: Behold, you are a dead man for this! Genesis chapter 20 verse 3. As he restored Sarah back to her husband, the king said: What have you done unto us? And what have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds unto me that ought not to be done … So Abraham prayed unto Alahim, and Alahim healed Abimelech and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. For YHWH had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
YHWH is serious about the wife of one’s youth and being restored to this Covenant, this first WOW (Malachi 2:14). And we are being restored finally to YHWH’s Shabbat, His Day of Rest and not that of the false father who lies. He, Yahshua, is our Covenant YHWH, Faithful BrideGroom forever. We must learn this, now, and pull one another out of the fire. There is yet time to repent. But not much.

  4. Both spouses dead by suicide? Hmmm. This man needs to removed from the pastorate and maybe, society.

  5. Someday I hope the whole truth comes out… but it all (Miller and Skinner tale) seems so sordid… almost unbelievable, weird, creepy – like a bad paperback novel plot…
