The alleged assassin of conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk has been arrested, President Donald J. Trump said Friday morning.
Law enforcement sources dicho los Correo de Nueva York that Tyler Robinson, 22, a Utah resident, is in custody.
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed during a Sept. 10 public appearance at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. He had just begun speaking to several thousand students gathered in an outdoor courtyard when a gunman atop a building 200 yards away opened fire.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, a Republican, previously said the state has the death penalty and will seek it in this case. Federal charges that also carry a potential death sentence have also been filed.
Trump did not identify the shooter, but told the “Fox & Friends” program, “I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him. . . . Somebody who was very close to him turned him in.”

The president added that “a minister who was involved with law enforcement” relayed the concerns of Robinson’s father to law enforcement.
Utah officials said they recovered a .30-06-caliber Mauser bolt-action rifle, an import, in a wooded area near the UVU campus. The New York Post citado law enforcement sources as saying the rifle and ammunition were inscribed with “anti-fascist ideology,” though there was no public announcement.
The FBI offered a $100,000 reward for “information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible” for the crime.
On Thursday, President Donald J. Trump told reporters at The White House that the shooter was “an animal, a total animal, and hopefully they’ll have him and they’ll get him. What he did is disgraceful.”
Trump, who said earlier that day the slain conservative would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, said “Charlie Kirk was a great person, a great man, great in every way, especially with youth.”
The chief executive called the shooting “disgraceful,” and said of the killer, “hopefully we’ll have him and we will deal with him very appropriately.”
The president also said he intends to attend the upcoming funeral service, expected to be held in Phoenix.
“I believe it’s in Arizona and they’ve asked me to go and I think I have an obligation to do that. . . . I’m hearing next weekend,” Trump told reporters.

Correction: We had cited earlier reporting by the Wall Street Journal that law enforcement said the inscriptions on the ammunition found near the UVU campus included transgender ideology, but the WSJ has since walked back that claim.

White kid from a Republican family of gun enthusiasts. I read his dad was a sheriff and a minister. He went to a Halloween party dressed as Trump.
I saw that one of the most powerful Southern Baptist pastors called on all ministers Sunday to preach their best “our values are under attack” sermons.
I’m guessing the facts won’t change their plan.
I write this as someone who is pro-life but not fond of much of Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric. Please, let the dust settle while we pray for the family of this young man who was loved by God, his grieving family, and friends. Whether or not his killer was left or right-wing is already being hotly debated on the internet, but we don’t yet know. (By the time this post is approved, it may be known!) As with the assassination of Melissa Hortman, this should be a call to all of us to pray for the people left behind as well as for our role as peacemakers in our country.
It seems funny that no one wants the facts to bias their opinion. I don’t know how anyone without special and specific training could pull off a multi-hundred yard shot, and posses a rifle that is a special, import. But as Kirk said, improper gun deaths are just collateral damage for the freedoms we all enjoy. Well, now he has proof. I get a lot of gruff for being a liberal, but I was Libertarian before I was a Christian. I was also a very proud, Theistic Satanist who derived joy from slamming Christians who did not know, and did not believe their own Scripture. Now, I get mad about the same thing.
Just like nobody is talking is talking about the Annunciation Catholic Church shooters political beliefs.
What’s most heartbreaking, is that now that it’s the same young, white, christian male identity that carries out most of these tragedies, we’ll move on business as usual- because we simply can’t come to terms with the fact that the problem is us. WE are the ones churning out these killers, and we will continue to do nothing about it.
Holding up a mirror 🪞 in front of self and the negative apects of ones national character isn’t
easy.
But what do they always go on about within this national character? Thats right, no pain no gain! 🤔
“Our values are under attack”
Can we assume that the sermons may utilise John 14 where Jesus said, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.” 🤔
Or perhaps the sermons could utilise the parable Jesus himself utilised to reveal how one inherites eternal life through unconditional love for God and others commonly known as the ‘Good Samaritan’. Luke 10 🤔
Then again they may wish to do a message around one of Pauls pastoral epistles such as that to the new faith community in Galatia where Paul said that faith in Jesus is not demonstrated by mere “belief” or adherance to “religious” practices’ & rituals, but rather through empathy and active selfless love for God and others. Hence, “the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love”. Galatians 5 🤔
Of course there are numerous other scriptures to use in context that highlight faith & eternal life & values, with the actual broad and specific meaning of the incarnation itself, ‘God with us” – where God clearly expresses his divine love for all of humanity, his divine will & the values of Kingdom citizenship, being most significant. 🤔
greg,
I dressed up as Little Bo Peep one year for Halloween.
I read a different article than you did. Assassin Tyler identified as politically “unaffiliated”, not following his parents who were Republican. According to a family member Tyler “became increasingly hateful and spreading hate”.
The youth pastor went with Tyler and Tyler’s dad to turn himself in.
Let’s hope and pray more pastors become bolder in their sermons. As Christian values….Biblical values…are certainly under attack.
So this means he deserved it? I don’t think you have ever actually listened to him. He was kind to everyone that held different beliefs he just didn’t back down on his own. Are you white, black, hispanic? Do you deserve to be killed for the color of your skin, your heritage, your religion?
I don’t think anyone is saying “he deserves it”. It is reporting facts about the shooter- facts that are very different than what people on the right have been assuming and saying loudly.
And he was not kind to everyone who held different beliefs than him, he regularly asserted that Black people were less qualified or intelligent, that Gay people should be stoned, and that kids dying in school schootings were an acceptable price to pay for our gun rights. He may have said these things calmly, but they were NOT kind.
Then why did you post “live by the sword (gun), die by the sword (gun)”? Crass.
“It may have “negative connotations”, but it’s true. If you don’t want “right wing advocate” to have negative connotations- right wing advocates should do fewer negative things.” . That goes both ways, and is intellectually dishonest to say other wise. If we willfully do not follow God’s standards, undermining HIS authority, then we are remaking God in our image
Riiigghht. I hope people are waking up enough not to fall for this “lone gunman patsy” story again.
WAY too many things add up to organized hit, just like Butler PA. The story being presented is the same as most others, covering up for the real perpetrators. Whoever did this did NOT act alone.
