Professional surfer and Christian writer, Bethany Hamilton is mourning the loss of her three-year-old nephew.
A week ago, Hamilton reached out to her friends, family and followers on social media to pray for the young boy.
“HELP‼️ My precious nephew was medivaced to Kapiolani in Oahu this morning after drowning last night,” said Hamilton in a post on Instagram. “He still has a heartbeat and has fight in him. Please pray. Thank you!”
Unfortunately, a few days later he passed away.
“The Lord has received my sweet nephew Andrew into his beautiful care,” said Hamilton. “While my family and I will miss him dearly, we trust that his joy is full with Jesus.”

De acuerdo a un fundraising page that was set up on behalf of the family, Andrew, one of six children in the family, came down with a fever and threw up. He was in the bathtub soaking in six inches of water when the accident occurred; just 15 feet from the kitchen and living room. He was found unresponsive. The family started chest compressions, which led to a slight heartbeat.
He was rushed to Wilcox Hospital before being medically evacuated to Kapi’olani Children’s Hospital in Oahu, where Andrew was put on life support before passing away due to his injuries on Oct. 17, 2024.
The family continues to ask for prayer and guidance as they face this new journey ahead of them.
“Faith is to trust that God’s will for our life is greater than our own,” said Hamilton. “Thank you all for the love, prayers and support in this trying time.”
