Alongside the help of many fans, Steven Curtis Chapman released a beautiful ode to all mothers with his single “Speed of Love.”
“Some of you may remember hearing this song I wrote about my mom & shared around Mother’s Day last year,” says Chapman. “Well, I’m very excited to finally be releasing ‘Speed of Love’ into the world as we know it!”
Chapman released a shorter version on social media in 2024 for his mom, but this year, thanks to many fans sending in photos of their moms, he released the full song and music video.
“I thought it would be really special to create a music video (with your help) to honour those who have inspired us and touched us by living at the ‘speed of love.’ We received an overwhelming amount of beautiful footage and tried to include as much as we could – thank you to everyone who shared clips and photos of your moms, grandmothers, and mother figures.”
Chapman is the most awarded Christian singer/songwriter in history with 59 GMA Dove Awards, five Grammys, an American Music Award, and 50 No. 1 radio singles.

“Your stories are a powerful part of this tribute. Besides hopefully bringing a smile again to my sweet mom’s face and reminding her how thankful I am for her and the ways she’s impacted my life and the lives of so many, it’s also my hope that the song resonates with you and encourages all of us who are blessed to still have our moms with us to hug them tight and ‘love on them’ well during this Mother’s Day season.”
After 30 years in the music industry, Chapman continues to play shows across the U.S.A., including being a part of the upcoming Unity Christian Music Festival in Michigan this August.
Chapman was also recently invitado to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, whose current membership includes Dolly Parton and Trace Adkins. But he redirects the honor to the woman who raised him.
“Thank you, Mom, for showing me what it looks like to live at the ‘Speed of Love.'”
