A former Kentucky youth pastor has been arrested and accused of assaulting a boy and encouraging the boy to perform sex acts in front of him.

Former pastor of Spears Mill Baptist Church in Paris, Kentucky, Dicky Tiller, 53, was arrested on July 30 and charged with sexual abuse, according to the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Department. He was released from jail on Aug. 3 on $5,000 bail, records show.

The telephone number to Spears Mill Baptist Church—a bautista del sur Church, affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention—was not in service.

El Informe Roys (TRR) contacted another Baptist Church in Paris. The person answering the telephone said Spears Mill didn’t have a regular pastor and Tiller was no longer at the church.

Tiller is accused of urging a boy to masturbate in front of him and of touching the child’s genitals on May 2024, reported The Daily Independent, an online newspaper.

Authorities accused Tiller of using “cellular devices” to communicate with the victim, including the exchange of photographs. It’s unclear if the photographs are the subject of the criminal action, the paper reported.

If convicted of first-degree sexual abuse Tiller faces a maximum of five years in prison.

“Being a person in a position of authority and special trust,” Tiller used his role as the teen’s pastor to abuse the juvenile, a court citation stated.

FOX 56 News reported Tiller was the former pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Cannonsburg, Kentucky.  While their pastor he donated $9,000 in 2018 to the Amy For Africa organization.  The donation was the approximate cost for building a new school building in Uganda, the organization reported.

Tiller’s Facebook page is closed but The Daily Independent reported Tiller was with First Priority America, a non-profit supporting club for Christian students.

The Independent also reported Tiller had worked for Kool Hits 105.7, a radio station in Ashland, Kentucky. However, after Tiller was charged, the station suspended him without pay indefinitely.

  1. Churches and ministries are run with a profit motive. It is to get the ‘talented/good speakers/hustling/networking/fund raising/generous with money’ people to run teams. Vehement cries and petitions to the Lord are rare. What appeals to the flesh is what people go for. In church, it is not uncommen to not receive a phone call or message to find out how you are doing. It will always be messages asking you to participate in a meeting, event or give funds. The thinking is that the church needs money and people to run. God, His word, and His Spirit are thought of as useful additions.

We get what we choose then. Unregenerated, disobedient, unrepentant, proud, scheming, deceiving, frustrated, and confused human beings to govern and fellowship with us.

We could have chosen God and His infinite mercies and goodness, but we don’t because He is Holy. And we reap the results.

    1. While what you say may have some truth it is not nearly as accurate as you might think. I have been in an independent Baptist Church in NJ for 50 year and I can assure you that we are not run for a profit motive, we are organized to spread the Gospel and to help others. We never ask for money we ask for needs of the people we have called and we do our best through our Deacon Board to meet those needs. As do the Gospel believing churches in our area.
I trust you can modify your mindset and ensuing comments to reflect the relatively small number of churches you describe and the all of us.

    2. Very straightforward letter. Many people are looking for entertainment centers that are called churches but just money machines. Fancy smoke and lights and loud worldly music.

  2. The regularity of these types of headlines is sickening. Combine that with the absolute abomination of Christian Nationalism and there’s nobody better to blame for the downfall of the Christian influence in America than all these so-called Christian leaders.
