Indiana Christian School Teacher Accused of Providing Drugs to 13-Year-Old

A former teacher at a Christian school in Indiana has been accused providing a 13-year-old girl with drugs and sending her sexually loaded texts, according to court records obtenido por El Informe Roys (TRR).

The teacher was fired in December for disobeying a school order against texting with students. It was only in recent months that local police discovered drugs were involved.

Jacob Wessel, the former robotics teacher at the nondenominational Mooresville Christian Academy (MCA) in Mooresville, Indiana, had an arrest warrant issued against him on Friday. He has been charged with child solicitation, dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance (drugs allowed for medical purposes), and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Wessel, 44, inappropriately texted a minor and provided her with marijuana and the stimulant Adderall, according to the probable cause report. The alleged activities occurred between September and December 2024, according to records TRR obtained from the Morgan County prosecutor’s office.

Wessel was fired from the school in December 2024, shortly after the victim and her parents informed administrators about the texts.

Bruce Peters, the head of MCA, told TRR via email he was unaware of the drugs and the inappropriate nature of the texts when the teacher was fired. Instead, Wessel was terminated because the teacher had an agreement with administration not to text individual students, plus Wessel had a history of “rumors” of inappropriate behavior with students, Peters said.

Peters clarified that the victim only shared with the school part of the texts that occurred between her and Wessel.

Wessel claimed to be ‘in love’ with student

But when the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office started investigating this case in January, more information about the content of the texts came out.

While no inappropriate photos had been exchanged, Wessel wrote that he and the student were “in love” and expressed sexual feelings, the probable cause report stated. That included telling the student it made him feel good when she “rubbed her boobs on him” and that he wanted to kiss her.

When the victim pushed back against Wessel’s emotions, he allegedly said that he “does not see or put an age on it for his feelings.”

Additionally, police discovered that Wessel had provided the student with both Adderall and marijuana, along with smoking the latter with her on the MCA campus while swearing her to secrecy.

In an interview with police, the victim said that she first started texting with Wessel about “day-to-day” things before they started to become “weirder.” She explained that Wessel gave her Adderall when she expressed being stressed about a test.

She also confirmed that she had tried marijuana with Wessel once while inside his home. While this action made her uncomfortable, she didn’t think much about because she was close to Wessel’s family.

She also revealed that Wessel had repeatedly texted “I love you” and had once rubbed her back or shoulders.

School claims previous accusations against Wessel unfounded

But in an Email from Peters to the MCA school body in December following Wessel’s termination, the school head talked about the “amazing impact” Wessel had on students and said the texts were “not sexual in nature, no pictures, nothing criminal.”

Yes, there previously had been allegations of inappropriate behavior in the past against the teacher, he added, but ultimately, all “accusations have been screened out or unfounded.”

“Over the several years that Wessel had worked at the school, “we have investigated some inappropriate teacher behavior. These behaviors have not been sexual acts, criminal acts, etc. and the behaviors have been found not to be true.”

Peters added that after the accusations were investigated, Child Protective Services were called though the students involved did not admit that anything inappropriate occurred.

But because of Wessel’s behavior, the school instituted measures to protect both Wessel and the school. These included prohibiting Wessel from texting individual students.

Wessel was fired for texting with a student, because it “was a violation of our agreement,” Peters said in the email.

Peters continued in his email that, “over the years, parents continue to spread child abuse and misconduct rumors about Mr. Wessel. I am very disappointed because I have investigated every single accusation. Mr. Wessel is not perfect, and he did make some inappropriate statements, but these were dealt with.”

Cuando se le preguntó por TRR if he was defending Wessel in his December email, Peters responded, “Rumors were flying of nudes being sent, physical interaction, being discussed by mothers at our Christmas parties, so I just stated what I knew to be true at the time.”

“In hindsight, it is always easier to make decisions,” Peters said. “If I knew he did something illegal, not just inappropriate, I would have contacted the police and had them also deal with him.”
