en un 36-minute video released Tuesday night, Daystar TV President Joni Lamb denied un informe that she used $100,000 of Daystar funds to pay for her 2023 honeymoon with husband Doug Weiss.
“There are questions about—it’s all over the internet—that Daystar paid $100,000 for my honeymoon,” Lamb said on the video. “So, absolutely not—not one penny of Daystar’s money was used for our honeymoon. We paid for our honeymoon, okay? So again, that’s another lie that’s out there.”
Sin embargo, El Informe Roys (TRR) has obtained two Daystar expense reports, showing Lamb charged about $100,000 to her Daystar credit card for a resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, where the couple honeymooned.
Plus, former Daystar Vice President Jonathan Lamb told TRR that when he objected to the honeymoon charges at an August 2023 Daystar board meeting Joni attended, board member Tom Calender decided to “gift” the $100,000 for the honeymoon to Joni.
Jonathan said it’s possible Joni has since reimbursed the ministry for the honeymoon, especially now that the information has gone public. The last he had oversight over Daystar’s finances was November 16, 2023, Jonathan told TRR.

TRR reached out to Daystar, asking for documentation, showing that Joni reimbursed Daystar for the honeymoon charges and also showing when the reimbursement was made.
Daystar replied with a declaración but did not provide any documentation. “All charges by Joni Lamb on a corporate credit card that are personal expenses are fully accounted for and reimbursed in full by Joni Lamb,” Daystar wrote in an email. “This has been and will always be the accounting practice at Daystar. Daystar’s finances are subjected to an independent, third-party audit by an accounting firm on an annual basis.”
TRR replied immediately, asking again, “When were the charges reimbursed? Also, can you show documentation that Joni reimbursed the charges?”
Daystar did not immediately reply.
Joni Lamb’s expense report for October 2022 shows a charge of $36,780.32 for Ventananas Al Paraiso, a luxury resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. A note by the charge says, “Ms. Joni Lamb and Mr. Doug Weiss – *Use US Bank Rebate/Points*”

A second expense report of Joni’s for May 2023 shows a charge of $60,041.68 for the same resort. Similarly, a note by the charge says, “Ms. Joni Lamb and Mr. Doug Weiss – *Use US Bank Rebate/Points*”

Though the couple took the honeymoon in July 2023, Joni paid for it in advance using a company credit card, according to Jonathan Lamb whose job at the time included approving expense reports.
Jonathan told TRR that the notes on the expense report would have been written by Joni’s assistant, but Joni would have instructed her what to write. And the practice of using Daystar credit card points to pay for personal expenses had started years earlier, when Jonathan’s father, the late Marcus Lamb, was CEO of Daystar.
However, Jonathan told TRR that he consulted with Daystar CFO Arnold Torres, who then checked with Eddy Liesdyanto, Daystar head of accounting, to see how many points were available. Liesdyanto told Jonathan that the credit card hadn’t accumulated enough points to cover the charges, Jonathan said. As a result, Jonathan said he had to use Daystar funds to pay the credit card bill.
Según un itemized resort bill obtenido por TRR, the total charges for the honeymoon, including food, drinks, and tips was $103,818.
At a board meeting Aug. 23, 2023, Jonathan said he objected to Daystar paying for the honeymoon. At the time, the board was comprised of only three members—Jonathan, Joni, and Attorney Tom Calender, according to Jonathan Lamb.

Calender then decided to “gift” the approximately $100,000 to Joni from Daystar, Jonathan said.
A month later, on Sept. 26, 2023, Jonathan met with Calendar, Daystar CFO Arnold Torres, and Attorney John Lynch to discuss issues he had with his mother and the ministry. At one point, Jonathan mentions his objection to Daystar paying for Joni’s honeymoon.
“On the show today, she was actually kind of throwing me under the bus by saying that one of the challenges she’s been dealing with is that people will not always submit,” Jonathan says.
“But I emailed her back. I just said, ‘Mom, I’ve always submitted to you, even when I don’t agree. I didn’t agree that Daystar paid your $100,000 honeymoon. I didn’t agree that Daystar paid for $5,500 of Rachel’s photography, personal photography expenses. I didn’t agree with Doug being the host of Ministry Now. But I’ve submitted to that. The only—where I draw the line is the Word of God. I will never compromise the Word of God.”
No one on the recording contests Jonathan’s assertion that Daystar paid for the honeymoon.
Jonathan told TRR that Joni also took liberties with Daystar’s private jet.
And according to the Fundación Trinidad, Daystar’s jet made 24 round-trip flights from Fort Worth, Texas, to Colorado Springs, Colorado, from October 2022 to May 10, 2024.
Doug Weiss is from Colorado Springs and the couple reportedly started dating in August 2022, just before the flights began.
Daystar’s jet also made 13 round-trip flights from Fort Worth to Destin, Florida, during the same time period.
In September 2023, Joni and Doug purchased a beach condo near Destin for $2.9 million, the Trinity Foundation reported.
The total estimated cost of the flights to Colorado and Florida was $769,220, according to the Trinity Foundation.

She does not deny they spent $100k on the honeymoon, it’s just what bucket it came out of…but in the end, it’s all money from DayStar.
Joni is trying to split accounting and financial hairs to justify this. But then if she is OK with marrying an unbiblically divorced husband (who is a sex therapist too), then this should not be surprising.
Remember Dr. Doug says that Jesus died so we could have good sex.
Yes, it’s all Daystar money, but it’s NOT the same. Say Joni pays herself $200,000 a year for being CEO etc. Then Joni takes a honeymoon that costs over $100,000 – the company pays the tab, and Joni still has her $200,000 salary. Honeymoons are NOT company expenses, this is also illegal and highly unethical. The Lambs use the donations to their “ministry” to live the lifestyle of millionaires, what has this to do with serving Jesus?????
Elijah,
I don’t think this technically qualifies as, “people’s finances;” rather, it is looking into a so called ministry’s finances that appear to have been misdirected into paying for peoples’ honeymoon?
Your accusation seems misdirected. Has TRR found issues with a golden calf of which you are fond?

When you are granted preferential tax status because of a religious declaration, yes, you are open to your finances being scrutinized on a legal basis, at a minimum. Sure, ethical scrutiny is a tougher spectrum, but it is not out of line to at least try. If they would like for their finances to remain private (which would be their right to do so), they can, just drop the non-profit scam. It is not nagging at all. The bigger question: Why is it religious entities always choose the non-profit designation and become a large tax free footprint? If their message is so amazing and they run themselves just like a taxable business does, why hide in the non-profit world behind religious rhetoric?
I actually agree that DayStar can spend their money however they want (inside the confines of the law) and to me, that is the irony of all entities like this.
Wow, just wow! $100,000 honeymoon, $5,000 photographs payed by our donations to expand the kingdom!!! The $ we donate is to expand the kingdom of God not the Lamb’s kingdom!
Somebody needed to expose this mess! Thank you Jonathan for you courage! This reminds me when Jesus flipped tables at His Father’s house.
She may not be flying on the private jet now, she may unknowingly be floating aboard the Titanic…about to sink completely underwater at any moment.
Whatever is God’s sovereign will to happen, that’s what’s going to happen to Daystar that she cannot avoid and may never recover from. I continue to watch the story unfold as God shines the light of truth upon this dimming “star.”
“Low-level blogger,” lol. She forgot to add liberal. #adhominem
Replying to Darren Sapp – If I recall correctly, and it’s suspiciously similar to what I heard Joni Lamb just declare on camera, which you quoted – Chris Reed whined in a recent video that TRR is a “Low-Level-Pod-caster” – and also “Anti-MAGA”. Hearing Chris Reed’s complaint motivated me to increase my monthly support for TRR. Keep up the great work Julie Roys & faithful helpers!
It sounds like “anti-maga” has now become short-term for either “heretic”, or “anti-christian” or “traitor”?
Character matters. Follow Jesus, not Maga. Being known as “anti-Maga” is and will someday be proven to be a blessing, not a curse.
Living high and mighty off the backs of gullible donors. They have lost all sense of reality. Gut wrenching sick! It is deplorable! Walking humbly before your God does not apply to them…..so they think….one day they will be held accountable.
Thank you for all you do. God is cleaning house. Who knew his house could be so dirty…
It is interesting to note that the first expense report receipt date shows October 27, 2022.
In a CharismaNews article titled “How God Miraculously Led Joni Lamb and Doug Weiss Together,” the author of the article, Joni Lamb, writes: “Then, on New Year’s Eve [December 31, 2022], Doug proposed to me at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.”

Hold on. The honeymoon was booked 2 months after they started dating. 👀
So a $36,780.82 charge on Daystar’s credit card on October 27, 2022 toward a future honeymoon in Mexico was booked and charged to Daystar’s credit card two months before Doug proposed to Joni. Have you ever booked a honeymoon two months before you proposed to your spouse? And it was done within a ministry. Wow. I’m just shaking my head over all of this. This is crazy. It demonstrates a lack of sensible judgement and a lack of accountability.
Which is the real story?: Religious people continue to be gullible, scammed, and send money to scammers. Or- scammers spend the money they received from the gullible? Let’s remember: large numbers of christian’s believe in these people and organizations like this and believe the same things they do. How can those who claim such beliefs from an ancient book also be the ones funding these people then being surprised?
^ this. Raise your hand if you are surprised that Daystar is any different from Robert Tilton, Jim Baker, etc… the same 80’s grift all over again
eric,
I am truly in awe of your comment. It so accurately and profoundly captures the issue at hand.

However, I should note that the more TRR points out how selfishly donations to such ministries are used, hopefully the more that naive donors will wise up and quit giving foolishly…and only give to ministries that wisely and unselfishly use their donations.
So, this story too can be quite beneficial. It can be just SO VERY DIFFICULT to persuade most naïve givers!
An unbiblical remarriage… with an exorbitant honeymoon… paid by…
Trolling God???
Well, Julie, it looks like you won’t be getting a Christmas card from Joni this year.
Nearly $6,000 worth of cosmetic treatments e.g., vampire facials and Botox. Also, big mini-bar tab. Tragic when God’s representatives use other people’s money intended to spread the Gospel to enrich themselves instead. They all seem to do it. Jesus hates lies in His name.
Why wouldn’t she pay from her own bank account if she claims to have paid it with her own money why even start with the company credit card? So unbelievable.
But this is happening in every television ministry, every mega church, mega ministry – they are taking in huge donations from people who can’t afford to give but think they are “advancing the Kingdom” Why are people so gullible?
She has a net worth of $40 million. Why indeed would she not charge it to herself? She certainly has credit cards I would think.
How do you think she got a $40M net worth? By getting everyone else to pay the bills!
I’m wary…….of most of our supposedly ‘Christian’ leaders. I only truly trust my Lord and Savior; a large percentage of those claiming to represent Him are evil and self-serving.
I started following you, Julie, when you exposed Ravi. I’ve followed you, during some very interesting times, and interesting revelations. I believe we desperately need someone of your ilk; someone who will expose the lies and the greed that is showing up nearly every day in our Christian leaders.
I know God is not surprised by those who are betraying His name; I was totally and physically sick when Steve Lawson ‘fell’, but God knew it was forthcoming. And there are others who will affect me and break my heart, but their failures will not surprise God.
I guess I keep wondering how much more our long-suffering God will allow, before He ‘calls it in”?
seems to me God allows what we allow. seems to me the issue is passive compliant christians, railing on ‘the world’ in some sanctimonious pretend culture war, yet lacking both convictions and courage when it comes to their own subculture. It’s pathetic, disgusting, and reprehensible to everyone else observing from outside their bubble.
Let’s bear in mind that Christian networks receive their funding, or at least a great deal of it, from naïve believers who have been financially manipulated into “sewing a seed to reap a harvest”. Unethical use of the proceeds should hardly be surprising when their acquisition is said to be grossly inappropriate.
Many sit and watch Daystar and feel guilty if they don’t give, this is the cultish way they are brainwashed. Turn off Daystar now, give your money to the true poor. Stop advancing the lives of Doug and Joni, who steal Gods money. It happened to Hillsong in my country. Jesus is cleaning house, because soon and very soon he’s coming back for a spotless bride, Amen !
The best way to put a stop to these things is for people to stop giving to any of these high profile “ministries”. Give to your local church. Give to a women’s shelter. Give to the homeless person on the street. All of those are advancing the kingdom.
I’m pretty well convinced that the apparently widespread use of ministry donations to pay the purely personal expenses of ministers and parachurch organization heads will only come to a halt when the IRs and the Justice Dept. makes an example of one of the most egregious malefactors and they get sent to prison.
not likely to happen anytime soon since the MAGA theocrazy is now in power – and leveraging entities like DayStar is a big part of how they did it
I watched that 36 minute episode of Daystar where Joni denied that the $100,000 honeymoon expense was paid for by Daystar. First of all, who the heck spends $100,000 on a honeymoon. Joni’s living in a different world than I am and I am far from poor.
Geez. How ethically unwise to charge personal items on a business card and then pay back later….really?
I was badly wounded by a local pastor of our neighborhood church after being part of his start up for 2 & a half years. I raised $2,000 for pastor’s appreciate month, loaned him my Mercedes for 3 months when his van broke down and he laid me out verbally after a men’s Bible study. It took months of therapy to understand why I was so hurt.
Furthermore, I just read that Hal Lindsay was making 1.8 million dollars annually from his website and donated a 3 lousy % to charity.
GIVE ME A MASSIVE BREAK.
There’s Jesus first, then people, then dogs, then pastors & ministry leaders !!! #corrupt
I watched the same episode I think. She said that she had paid the honeymoon with her own money. And they all just smiled and accepted what she said.
So I guess she thinks Daystar money IS her money….
She said they got engaged in December 2022. Why is there a charge for the resort for October 2022 in hers and Doug’s name?
Yes, this is more revealing information that has come to light throughout this unfolding story. Can someone please tell me if this question has been “proposed” to Joni? I personally consider it relevant and worthy of an answer. And it appears many are questioning why Doug didn’t pay for their honeymoon or why Joni didn’t use her personal credit card to charge the expense instead of having to reimburse a Daystar expense (which she apparently neglected to do)? Is this beyond the appropriate line of journalistic questioning? I don’t know. Of course, this isn’t within the scope of the SA allegation, but the story line keeps broadening as investigation into the Daystar black hole deepens. It appears to all be unraveling. I thank God!
I am so sick of all these “Christians” spending so much money. People DONATE to these organizatons. People for who a $50 donation may be a significant amount of their monthly budget. No matter who paid for this, spending $100,000 on your honeymoon if you are supported this way is just WRONG. Any person who is getting rich in a “Christian ministry” is doing is wrong. Period.
Shouldn’t the government conduct an audit of this “church” given these expenses? and it seems odd that they started dating in August 2022 and then booked the honeymoon in Oct. Before the proposal! How long had Doug been divorced at that time -5 minutes?
I suspect as soon as the divorce decree was finalized by the judge, Doug ran out of the courtroom to a waiting car with Joni inside.
credit card statements do no lie, clearly a problem that needs to be cleared up. Did she repay the ministry? If so that would show up in the documents but does not sound like it.
Joni said on her latest staged video with friends that she would never cover anything up. She covered up Marcus’ seven year affair until she found out they were going to be outed. A seven year affair takes a whole level of deceit to pull off, all the while playing for the cameras.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, “Abstain from all appearance of evil”.
Will any other ministries be leaving Daystar besides Laura Lynn Thompson? I know the name it and claim it’s will continue on but Pastors like David Jeremiah, Christ in Prophecy, Greg Laurie, Charles Stanley, Michael Yousef, Adrian Rogers, Robert Jeffress, Jack Hibbs, etc., will these ministries remain silent and continue on this wicked Network? Let’s call each one and demand they do the right thing and leave for theLORD’s glory! Or am I dreaming that they’ll do the right thing?
Why didn’t Doug pay for the resort out of his own pocket? I would not believe a word Joni says. I’ve heard too much and the lies are never ending. They seem like the average wealthy, worldly couple and God is no where to be seen. People backslide all the time and Jesus said “Many are called and few are chosen” and “..They that endure to the end shall be saved”.
He must have been out of money. He paid Lisa $2,000,000 and then Joni and Doug bought a condo in Destin for $2.9 Million. A $100,000 honey moon looks like pocket change after looking at those two amounts.
