For those who have followed the ongoing scandal at Daystar TV Network, first reported by TRR, you know two very different narratives are being forwarded about the events.
Jonathan and Suzy Lamb allege that Jonathan’s mother, Daystar President Joni Lamb, and her late husband, Marcus Lamb, covered up the sexual abuse of Jonathan and Suzy’s daughter by a family member.
Jonathan and Suzy also say Joni retaliated against them for refusing to read a viewer comment praising Joni’s remarriage to Doug Weiss. And then, when Jonathan refused to sign an NDA, the ministry stripped him of his executive status and eventually fired him.
However, Daystar claims the whole controversy is a “smear campaign,” launched by Jonathan because he was upset his mother was named president of Daystar, instead of him.
In the interest of transparency, we’re releasing audio of the complete Daystar Board meeting on November 16, 2023, so you can get this eye-opening behind-the-scenes view into the situation.
We’re releasing the audio in two parts. And in part one, you’ll hear the contentious back-and-forth between Jonathan, Board Member Tom Calender, and Joni—not just about Daystar’s NDA but about a tracker Daystar secretly put in Jonathan’s car.
The audio has been only lightly edited, to remove the name of a person who has been accused of child sex abuse but not formally charged with any crime.

The level of gaslighting and spiritual abuse is off the charts! Poor Jonathan, they are horrible people, ocassionally throwing God into the mix to sound Godly and holy etc. Really shocking actions.
Based on this meeting it would seem that the three board members are far from having an equal voice. Tom Calender appears to be the power behind the throne. It would be interesting to know just how much and in what ways Calender is compensated by Daystar. While he is leaving what was probably a lucrative job behind I suspect that Jonathan is better off leaving Daystar in his rear view mirror and having nothing more to do with Daystar or his mother.
This is how a lot of these “ministries” are set up: either the family dominates the board, or (to give the “appearance of independence”) the board nominates a bunch of friends and lackeys who will do whatever the family tells them to do (under threat of removal and “shunning”).
I wouldn’t trust anyone who has been a part of this soap opera. If Johnathan thinks his mother is living in adultery then he could have walked away. At the same time Joni could have just fired him instead of trying to manipulate/spiritualize the situation with big jimmy.
So smart of Jonathan to record these meetings. I’m glad someone, hopefully an employment attorney who can represent him and Suzy. This clearly seems to come down to greed, manipulation, retaliation from both Doug and Joni. The prayer at the beginning of the meeting was empty. Similar to the Pharisee prayer in the temple. These audio clips clearly tell the story. Marcus Lamb dies, Doug enters the picture. All of the children had spoken up with their concerns, but Jonathan was the one in a position of authority at Daystar and had to be silenced. Perfect example of REFORM needed in the church. I so agree. This is NOT a legitimate “board.” It is a disgrace. There was a book I read part of with an allegory. It went like this: there was a beautiful flower. But the Master Gardener saw that there was a “virus” that could spread and cause damage. He burned it to the ground to destroy the virus. From the ashes came a PURE flower. Pruning produces greater fruit. I believe God can bring good from this.
Unfortunately, Daystar is incorporated as a “church” under the name “Word of God Fellowship, Inc.” Courts are prohibited under the “ecclesiastical doctrine” from interfering in church matters. Thus, Jonathan will likely not prevail in an actual court. But in the “court of public opinion” he is clearly winning.
The actions of DayStar in the least appears to be retaliation, manipulation and abuse. Get an employment attorney. Also, you may want to hire a probate attorney to review Marcus last Will and Testament.
Thank God Jonathan recorded it. He knew he would have to use it to prove he wasn’t the guilty one. He knew they were going to try and take him down. They’re snakes.
YES In my view, it is the only check and balance he has against such strong arm tactics.
the root of this is sexual abuse and cover up which have blown a hole in the wall. because protecting daystar (ie money and power) were more important than protecting the onnocent grandaughter and God knows what all and who all else. trying to flip the script so they can appear polished is like putting lip stick on a pig. sorry but glad God is exposing this for justice. praying for all. really hurts everyone, especially Jesus.
What struck me is how cold and calculating the whole board meeting was. I just feel that there had to be behind the scenes discussion and collusion between them before the meeting in order to put Jonathan in the hot seat the way they did.
This meeting reveals Tom is the “huge green python” in Suzy’s dream—shared with Joni the day after it happened, as told in a recent interview—that wrapped around her, Jonathan, and another man employed at Daystar, squeezed together as Joni stood by watching; allegedly, of course. Tom is not an average snake. He is a huge python, who has secretly steered Daystar in the name of Word of God Fellowship. At the end of the meeting he dares to tell the Vice President, fellow Board Member, and only son of the founders, “You are dismissed,” like a king, like an emperor. And Joni fully agreed. She is no leader at Daystar, or president. She is the face and voice of a brand, and only few have understood that.
Marcus incorporated Daystar under the “Word of God Fellowship” name as a church, so as to avoid filing IRS Form 990 each year.
In the Word there are mentions of windows mostly look out, in King Davids case and doors one goes in and out in King Davids fall which God loved .The Godly Leader of Day Star Marcuse opened the door for sinful flesh, has been allowed to disrupt God’s reach to the world. One can argues all day long on different subjects which they are trying to focus on. The hearts and souls have been offended and damaged. Hiding sexual sin by the spiritual leader has allowed to prevail in the family and network. The granddaughter abuses has not been mention yet ,until that issue is addressed, the fall will persist. Only the Son of God Jesus Christwas able to remove the sin. I’ve seen interviews with Jonathan and Suzy, and they have answers for everything Daystar is saying. Daystar on the other hand, has not really answered much of anything. That this goes all the way back to Marcus tells me they chose to try to save Daystar’s image and perhaps deal with everything internally. Those interviews with Jonathan and Suzy though point to Daystar not really doing much of anything to deal with it internally, and instead of focusing on the health of a young child who has been abused, they only seem interested in protecting Daystar’s image and protecting the accused and his family. Not sure they will succeed in all that. This is too egregious. God bless Jonathan and Suzy, and God bless their young child.
RUN! Dont walk…run from all this darkness and evil! You’ll have a lot of detoxing to do but after that life is unbelievably good. God is rescuing you Johnathan and family! Life is much better without all this corruption. You may not have all the glitz and glam but you could have what God says “ to lead a quiet simple life!” Without all this drama. what is happening is Jonathan is exposing all the shady things that are being done by these people. they have never had anybody challenge them. they want to keep the money train going and he is threatening that. it is wild
I laughed when the man with the Southern accent and the shortness of breath said he was sure they weren’t being recorded, and they’d even had the room swept for “bugs.” Funny how life turns out sometimes.
And then later Joni says, “are you recording?” to Jonathan. She sees a red light and insist he turn off his phone. Jonathan agrees but the recording continues lol!

The whole thing is a strange mashup of a garden variety employment dispute, a family breakdown, and the Bible thrown in a blender.
From the employment standpoint, it’s fairly straightforward. Mr. Calender and Mrs. Weiss are not wrong that a person who doesn’t want to follow instructions from a business superior can either (a) quit or (b) be fired. However, they are wrong that normal businesses expect employees to “submit” like robots. A successful business listens to employees and answers their reasonable questions. Ultimately, it may come down to, “Thank you for your suggestions, and now we’re going to do it this way, no further discussion,” but normal bosses don’t start talking about witchcraft and demonic attacks on your children.
The family breakdown is unfortunately familiar, as well. I hope that, somehow, this all works out in the direction of healthy development for all of them.

I have SO MANY QUESTIONS about this meeting and the legal ramifications.
1. Who recorded this?
My gut tells me it was Johnathan. I wouldn’t blame him if he did, but if it was him, he did lie to his mom and the other board members so that’s not great for him. Johnathan has the motive to record to show the evidence of being railroaded.
2. Is TRR ready to be sued?
It’s pretty clear that Daystar is ready to quash any opposition to their narrative (which is essentially being caught red handed) but they are most likely going to be ferocious in TRR getting the leaked audio from this meeting.
I think another question would be are all the people involved ready to get new jobs? I can’t imagine this behavior will be tolerated by a loving God.
Jonathan recorded it. In Texas, only one party has to consent to a meeting being recorded. So even if Joni disagreed, he was within his rights to record it. Her only option at that point was to end the meeting.
Why on earth does a “ministry” have a Porsche?
This meeting is a mess, but frankly, every single one of them is out of line.
Yes, the way he kept unironically saying “the Porsche” and “my Porsche” caught my attention.
Early in the audio (8:37-8:49), Joni asks “this board meeting isn’t being recorded, is it?” Calender replies “and we swept this to make sure we don’t have any bugs . . . that because somehow or another information got out here.” Jonathan completes a sentence “that you’re not being recorded;” his earlier words are not audible.
Do other readers find it strange that board members fear surveillance? This brief exchange suggests a severe lack of trust among them and perhaps an admission of a desire to conceal certain facts from the network’s viewers.

I love how they throw out allegations about Jonathan and when he tries to defend, rebuff or ask for clarification to what they say he is shot down and made to be the rebellious one.
Hi Julie, The tracking at Daystar is nothing new. Once I watched a Joni show and her and her daughter Rachel where laughing how Marcus put a tracking device on her car when she was in college and misbehaving to pull her into line. I do feel sad to hear all the bullying and abuse – but truly even Jonathan and his wife have been in the grift with the prosperity teaching. They have enjoyed all the benefits too. I pray they are able to get into a church with sound doctrine, get normal jobs & take care of this precious little girl. Many of us who have come out of Charismania – have just had to leave the abuse, forgive and go live quiet simple lives. Daystar is a den of wolves and scammers.
Just reading Amos who prophesies of God’s judgment because of failure to “love your neighbor as yourself”. Amos 1:9 “Because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom,
And did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.” How sad that the children of Marcus and Joni are now treated in this way over the interests of outsiders. What manipulation and injustice.

Is this intimidation following the Handbook of God, or the handbook of daystar.
To my knowledge, a real “Christian” board includes members from outside the ministry, whose pockets are not being filled with money from Daystar. Who turns a “secretary” into a board member? Only people who do not want accountability have internal employees as “board” members.
