Three podcasters who’ve been reporting on the scandal at Daystar TV were kicked out of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Convention this week. The podcasters say they did nothing wrong. But Daystar was upset with their presence and apparently still has enough clout at NRB to get the organization to do their bidding.
On this special edition of El Informe Roys podcast, host Julie Roys talks with two of these podcasters—Canadian Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson and Ray Curry Jr. of The Unction Podcast.
According to Thompson and Curry, they had some interactions with Daystar executives Rachel Lamb Brown, Steve Wilhite, and Head of Security Shannon Kelly. The next thing they knew, NRB security was escorting them out of the convention.
Why would NRB side with Daystar, which is embroiled in scandal involving alleged cover-up of sex abuse and financial misconduct? And what does this incident say about the abuse of power and influence within the so-called “evangelical industrial complex”?
In this episode, Julie unpacks the incident with Thompson and Curry. She also airs some exclusive video from the podcasters’ encounters at NRB with security, police, and Daystar executives.
She also talks about NRB’s historic failure to deal with those who cover up sex abuse and explains how this Christian media behemoth is complicit with a known pedophile protector.

Man alive, this is very nearly unbelievable; also very sad. I’ve generally had much respect for NRB in the past. That has changed as of today :( THANKS for making and posting this.

Thank you Julie for another Great Report. Shameful but not so surprising what is being Exposed within the church, especially the big ministries with big influence. And Oh woe to all of those of which much has been entrusted to, yet refuse to repent. Jesus warned repeatedly to be READY when He Suddenly Comes for His Spotless Bride. Clear to see how all of his warnings are being fulfilled at an accelerated speed. We watch & pray to be counted worthy to escape all that is coming on the earth & to stand before the son of man. Even so, Come Quickly Lord Jesus — if only to rescue all of the innocent children & babies in danger of unspeakable evil.
Julie, I just finished listening this morning to “NRB Kicks Out Podcasters Exposing Daystar TV”.
It was so obvious once again that the darkness in the “christian mafia” continues to hide in the dark less their evil deeds be exposed (discovered). The very sad truth in the “Church” is how many sheeple will side with the perpetrators and not use their God given voices to speak out against the wicked deeds that are being done in the name of “Jesus”. We are warned in scripture 2 Corinthians 11:4 which says that there is another jesus, another spirit, and another gospel. We are seeing this scripture being fulfilled across all denominational lines, with very few exceptions. I appreciated how you once again shone the light of truth on John MacArthur publicly shaming Eileen Gray at Grace Community Church on August 18 in 2002. John MacArthur and others like him believe they are untouchable, however, the Lord Jesus says that “whoever offends one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better that a millstone be hung around his neck and be cast into the sea” Mark 9:42.
The titanic is sinking.
Some genuine Christians are being thrown off the ship for warning the passengers that the ship is unsafe because it’s following a false Christ. Other genuine Christians are being squeezed or pushed off the ship by fellow passengers because they are expressing concerns about the corrupt staff on the ship. Others are jumping off (like people who chose to jump from the twin towers rather than die in the fire).
Jesus is in the water, ready to rescue and embrace all genuine believers.
What on earth??? Is the NRB not interesting broadcasting the truth?
Julie, as a fellow Wheatie and former student of Paul Fromer, I imagine he’s seeing how you are using your journalistic skills for advancing Christ’s Kingdom and he’s proud of you. Keep the faith and take all the time you need to recharge, reflect and stay in the Word yourself. Satan will try to deceive you to do more. He’s a Liar. You need to keep trusting more and God will do the work.
Thank you. Recharging and staying in the Word is so key. I have found fellowship with true believers to be crucial, as well. They remind me that those behaving badly do not represent Christ. They either do not know Him or are terribly deceived.
Lord it’s time for You to clean up the corrupt Christian church. My heart goes out to Laura-Lynn and Ray. May the full truth of the Daystar debacle be revealed.
