Pastor de una megaiglesia de Texas: “No eres cristiano si votas por un demócrata”

By Liz Lykins

A Texas megachurch pastor announced on Instagram Monday that if someone votes for a Democrat, they are not a Christian.

Landon Schott, senior pastor at multi-campus Mercy Culture Church in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, wrote, “I’ve been asked over and over ‘Pastor Landon are you saying you’re not a Christian if you vote for a Democrat?’ LET ME BE VERY CLEAR… THAT IS CORRECT!!

He continued, “YOU ARE NOT A BIBLE BELIEVING, JESUS FOLLOWING CHRISTIAN IF YOU SUPPORT THE GODLESS ROMANS 1 EVIL OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!”

Schott planted his non-denominational Church congregation in 2019, according to the church’s LinkedIn. He founded it after receiving a blessing from disgraced Gateway Church founder roberto morris en 2017.

Schott now leads the church’s six campuses and eight services, one of which includes a Spanish-speaking congregation. Pastor Tom Lane, a former executive pastor at Gateway Church who claims he had no knowledge of the child-sex abuse allegations against Morris, currently serves as an apostolic elder at Mercy Church.

In Monday’s post, Schott labeled Democrats as “The Demon Party.” He added that those who support the Democratic party are “simply a Luke-warm ‘pretend Christian.’”

“I’m not a Republican and (there) are evils on both sides,” Schott wrote. “But tell me again how you’re a Christian that Biblically supports the DEMONIC policies of the Democratic Party?!?”

Schott’s remarks come as the Democratic National Convention is currently being held in Chicago. The event kicked off Monday to promote Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s potential presidential candidate.

Schott doubles down on his opinion

On Tuesday, Schott further doubled down on his stance in a video post.

He cited the Democratic party’s views on abortion, homosexuality, and transgenderism for the reasoning behind his statement. Democrats support perversion, idol worship, and child sacrifice, he said.

“I know people don’t like this because most people aren’t pastored, most people aren’t confronted spiritually, and most pastors just care if people show up and give,” he said. “I don’t really care if you like me. I don’t care if you go to our church. . . . If you think aligning with a party that is flippantly murdering children and celebrating it . . . friend, you are not on the Lord’s side.”

He addressed concerns that Democrats are the only party that cares about addressing poverty. He claimed that “that’s not true.” He instead said Democrats are destroying their cities with policies that don’t work.

He added, “The most devastated cities in America are Democrat cities because their policies don’t work. It’s mind-boggling.”

He also reprimanded black Christians who plan to vote for Harris because they are black.

“It’s the same thing that gay Christians do. You try to put an identity before your Christianity,” he said. “A gay Christian? There’s no such thing. There’s no category. I’m a black Christian? I’m sorry, there’s no such category. There’s no such category as a white Christian.”

He noted that he pastors a multicultural, diverse church. But he added that as a pastor, his role is to cut off false thinking and sinful mindsets by calling out the party’s demonic ways.

Schott equated voting for a Democrat with sinning.

“A group of people that pretend they’re Christians, but they vote for polices that is not Christianity or biblical values, it’s literally devil worship,” Schott said. “If you are voting for these policies you are deceived. You are not a true follower of Jesus.”

He emphasized, “This will be the fall of America; this will be the fall of American Christianity.”

Controversial pastor Greg Locke commented on Schott’s post, stating “Amen!! I pray the media is easier on you than when I said it a couple of years ago!! They came out with a vengeance. Press on Man of God!!”

Prominent pastor Dwight McKissic pushes back

Prominent pastor Dwight McKissic, who serves as the senior pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, pushed back against the idea of bashing someone solely based on the party they vote for.

“It’s impossible to vote for either party, or major parties presidential nominee without engaging in moral compromise,” McKissic wrote in a post on X yesterday. “The Kingdom of God is not on the ballot. Neither is Christ The King.”

McKissic explained that both Democrats and Republicans are guilty of unrighteousness.

“Our voting decision ought not be based on our perception of which party or candidate represents righteousness as we weigh or define righteousness,” he said. “But rather which person that we believe will best govern the country, and fulfill the responsibilities of government as spelled out in our founding governance, and aspirational documents.”

Noting former President Trump’s “34 felony convictions, racial discrimination suits he’s settled with monetary payouts . . . and admission of sexual assaults.” McKissic urged people not question his morality based on his voting decision.

Other pastors condemn voting for Democrats

In recent years, other pastors have made similar statements to Schott about voting for Democrats.

Alton R. Williams, pastor at World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church in Memphis, Tennessee, told congregants he couldn’t vote for a party that is “for all kinds of sexual perversions,” during a July sermon.

“I can’t vote for a party that is going to accept transgenders going into women’s restrooms,” he said. “I can’t do it. I can’t go with a party that wants to cut little girls’ breasts off to make them boys. I can’t go with a party that says you can be a boy today and a girl tomorrow. . . I can’t support a party that wants to remove God from its party platform.”

Al Mohler
Dr. Albert Möhler

In 2022, Al Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, claimed Christians are “unfaithful” if they “vote wrongly,” which many interpreted as condemning Christians who vote Democrat.

“Tenemos la responsabilidad de asegurarnos de que los cristianos comprendan la mayordomía del voto, lo que significa el discipulado del voto, lo que significa la urgencia del voto, el tesoro del voto”, dijo Mohler. “Y deben entender que en la medida en que no votan, o votan mal, son infieles porque el voto es una mayordomía poderosa”.

Earlier this month, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who embraces Christian nationalism, encouraged pastors to tell their congregations to vote for Donald Trump.

“There is only one way to save this country,” Kirk said at a political training conference in Dallas, Texas. “Awake the beast that is the American church.”

charlie kirk Turning Point Faith

En una reciente pódcast con El Informe Roys (TRR), Phoenix Pastor Caleb Campbell confronted the idea that Christians have to use political power to rescue America.

While noting that Jesus confronted Peter when he resorted to violence in the Garden of Gethsemane, Campbell said:  “What Jesus shows us is that if you really want to transform society, If you really want to shape culture, if you truly want to see a righteous people, you will lay down the sword and pick up the way of the cross. You will, as Philippians 2 says, ‘follow me and take on the form of a servant . . .

“And so my concern with American Christian nationalism is not primarily with the ends that they’re trying to get to—a righteous and just community—it’s the means by which they’re trying to get there, which is domination, power, culture war.”

  1. They are completely correct! Just look at the evil that’s going on right now in Chicago. They’re offering free abortions. If you vote blue I can’t in good faith call you a brother or sister in Christ.

    1. Thank goodness you’re not God then. American politics does not and has not ever had anything to do with a person’s salvation or lack thereof. Neither political party are saints and are proper practitioners of Gods Word. Faith alone in Christ alone is what makes a person a believer in Christ. Not who/what a person votes for. The fact that folks forget this goes to show that politics/politicians have become their golden calfs and need to check their own heart.

      1. Thank you for your on point response. God doesn’t ride the backs of donkeys or elephants. Self-righteous pastors need to stay in their lane and stop trying to control everyone and every outcome. A person is free to vote for whomever they choose.

        1. Pat White:

A person is always free to do anything, not just “vote for whomever they choose.” You are free to sin any time you like. Your choice. We are talking about anti-Christian policies and voting for those who will enforce them.

If you choose to do so, is it not true that you are supporting sin?

      2. After 157 comments have been made in this article, yours is still one of the few that addresses the real issue of Schott’s blatant legalism. He’s trying to reduce godliness to a simple formula. That’s why Jesus called the Pharisees “whitewashed tombs”. Now that RFK Jr, who is very tolerant of abortion, is aligned with Trump, will the rule have to be adjusted to anyone who votes in the presidential election can’t be a Christian? That’s how the Pharisees kept adding weights, as Jesus put it.

We must judge candidates by their positions and records. We must not judge our brothers and sisters by their personal decisions.

    2. Well Travis, sorry to read that your guidelines for relationships across the Body of Christ are shaped more by human notions of politics, than God’s word. Does that mean that Jesus has to be a republican, or you are not going to follow his teaching?

      1. Karl, Jesus is not a Republican, but how can one vote Democrat after reading Psalm 139? It boggles the mind how a Christian can vote for the party that celebrates death.

    3. Some of our so called pastors and ministers needs to go back and renew their relationship with Christ. If they were called by God they wouldn’t spend time passing judgement on people. It’s unbelievable to hear a man of God saying a person is not a Christian if they vote for a Democrat. Pastor Schott because of that statement l have to question whether you have the correct relationship with Christ .
By the way the Bible say we are all sinners. Are you a saved sinner?
You supposed to be leading people to Christ not judging them.

      1. I think some have forgotten why this country was formed in the first place. To escape religious persecution and that is one reason we have the separation of church and state. No one celebrates an abortion, the celebration is continuing to have the freedom to control your future. In my opinion you can’t say you follow Jesus when you judge others, condemn those that are different than you. Try and legislate away the freedoms of groups you don’t agree with. Jesus never turned anyone away. Your view of Jesus is distorted to fit your views. I believe you should respect those who worship differently than you do. I simply don’t understand how you can consider yourself a christian and support a man who mocks the very teachings of christianity. A liar, criminal, abuser and using the mantel of christianity to try and get elected again so he won’t wind up in prison. I do not believe he is “the chosen one.” What a joke!

    4. Our faith should inform our actions and what we think about every facet of life, including the policies of those who we vote to be leaders in our political system. So i agree with you that if we call ourselves Christ followers, we must choose people whose policies line up most closely with His values. There may have been a time when the 2 parties were more closely aligned- it could be argued that both wanted good for America, and issues like abortion, outright Marxism and transgender ideology hadn’t yet surfaced. But they have now, and the Left not only embraces, but pushes those beliefs, and we must use our vote to take a stand against them.

      1. Hi Sarah, while there is not anything in the New testament about Jesus and the early church battling cultural sins, and getting involved in legislation – there is plenty to be said about how to love God and love your neighbor, and how that love is evidenced by followers of Christ in what they care about when it comes to the poor, downtrodden and castaways
That is where I differ with those who are willing to cast a vote for Trump, and where are the nonh Republicans have a stronger message. Does that exclude me from Christianity as the church leader in this article would suggest?

  2. sigh.

So sad to see the conflation of the bible with politics. Sad that these people understand neither the Bible nor liberal democracy founded in Enlightenment princicples. If they parsed even one of those properly, this wouldn’t be an issue.

I could argue that voting red is equally anti-Christian. I prefer to live in a liberal democracy (not L(iberal)), not a Taliban + Project 2025 theocracy. Check out Democrats for Life. I’m voting blue and will sleep well in the comfort of the gospel of Christ living in His kingdom, not one of this world.

  3. While I think Christian nationalism is unbiblical and “Christians” who think Donald Trump is a godly man are brain dead, I also have trouble with Christians voting for a party that celebrates the killing of babies and, as the pastor mentioned in his post, celebrate the perversion of Romans 1. How can one claim to love Jesus and vote for a party that advocates for such wickedness.

    1. Vocabulary matters, and killing babies is “infanticide.” Is it sinful for Christians to thoughtfully consider the morality and ethics surrounding the role human choice plays in the process of an egg becoming a soul? Some would consider the choice of using birth control to be playing God. Should an entire society be bound by that conviction? Certainly, if birth control were outlawed there would be a lot more babies, so connect the dots. How is the traditional RC position about birth control not binding on us all? At a minimum, I’d like to think consciousness can be a reasonable marker for “personhood.” But our inability to have reasonable conversations without inflammatory labels only allows for extreme positions to be considered. My predicted response: slap on a label, and ignore the above questions posed.

      1. From wiki: John Charles Rock (March 24, 1890 – December 4, 1984) was an American obstetrician and gynecologist. He is best known for the major role he played in the development of the first birth control pill.

He was also a devout Roman Catholic.

        1. Mt 7:15-23

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

    2. Exactly. We only have two platforms to choose between. Neither candidate has a pristine past, both have done wicked things (and if we could see what God can see i am quite positive we would all be horrified at the evilness of all mankind) so we are left to boil it down to the two platforms and policies, which makes things a whole lot clearer. On policy matters alone, without muddying it up with personal character, Christ followers should align most closely with the Right. That point is indisputable.

      1. Sarah, I am a Christ follower, and I find the policies of the right repugnant and anti-Christ. I vote for dem candidates because they support the poor and the marginalized, and look out for the overlooked in society, where the right tries to demonize the “other”. Christ is always on the side of the outsider and the marginalized.

Even if abortion is your main issue, you should vote for dem candidates, because their policies are actually effective in reducing abortions, whereas the right just wants to make it illegal, which has little to no impact. Education, poverty reduction, and affordable, easy to access birth control are known to effectively reduce unwanted pregnancies and abortion- the right repeatedly votes against thing that actually impact abortion, while abortion rates go down faster in every dem administration.

        1. Jen:

Some questions: Why do you consistently cut down Republicans? Is it because you feel marginalized by those who are against sinful behavior? Is it because you somehow believe Democrats are improving the lives of others when all indicators point to the opposite effect?

Cities run by Democrats are in horrible shape. You know this and Americans can see it.

          https://voz.us/en/politics/220705/51/18-of-the-20-worst-run-cities-are-democrats.html

Further, we do not measure the morality of policies by whether they reduce sinful behavior. We measure the morality of policies by whether they are based on the Bible. So, if I institute a policy that prevents theft from stores, but theft goes up, does that mean I should allow theft?

No. Your reasoning is off here. As a professed believer, I am wondering whether you are using the Bible as your moral compass or not. If not, what are you using?

“Christ is always on the side of the outsider and the marginalized.” How true! This statement includes EVERYONE, including the wealthy and Republicans and Democrats and….ALL sinners.
“The outsider” is not immune to sin, nor are the “marginalized.” If you find yourself supporting them by encouraging sinful activity, you are not standing on the Bible. Instead, you are standing on Humanism.

          1. “So, if I institute a policy that prevents theft from stores, but theft goes up, does that mean I should allow theft?”
-no, it means your policy hasn’t achieved your stated goal, and maybe you should look into why that is and if your goal truly is to reduce theft then you should find a way to accomplish that

        2. Jen,

Poverty has increased in cities run by Democrats. Allowing abortions in order to decrease abortions is a ludicrous position to take from any logical perspective. It coincides with the Left stating that in order to prevent racial discrimination, we need to discriminate against white people. Public education in Democrat-run cities is horrible. Many students cannot read well when they graduate from high school. Birth control is basically free in most health clinics across our nation, by the way.

You have drawn an imaginary line between Democrats and Republicans based on the notion that Republicans don’t care about the “poor and the marginalized,” yet you provide no proof for this dividing line. In reality, Republicans give more to charity than Democrats do.

          https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34429211/

This article is based on policies that do not find standing in the Bible. Perhaps you believe they do?

  4. Schott: “A gay Christian? There’s no such thing. There’s no category. I’m a black Christian? I’m sorry, there’s no such category. There’s no such category as a white Christian.”

And yet, later, he talks about “American Christianity”.

Does anyone else see the problem here?

    1. Open your ears and your minds. Pastor Shotts said there is No such category of specific Christians. He is addressing American Christians because this is his audience…. The Christians voting in America! As a pastor it IS his duty to guide in the ways of the Lord’s teachings. The truth hurts us all but the lies of the Democratic party to acheive their agenda is shameful and ultimately hurtful to all citizens of America.!

      1. “As a pastor it IS his duty to guide in the ways of the Lord’s teachings.” That is why he is so wrong in declaring that voting for democrats negates the results of having faith in the completed work of Christ. It’s no different than declaring a person is not a Christian if they drink alcohol, watch “dirty movies”, commit adultery, abuse drugs, steal from their employer, or worse, from their church, sexually abuse children, etc. Notice, I intentionally included sins chronicled recently in the Roys Report. Are those sinners saved, are they Christians? God knows their hearts. We don’t. Mr Schott doesn’t either.

  5. Travis,

I remain curious about your comments here. Part of me wanders if you’re an automated troll seeking to get a response. Another part of me questions if you actually have a legitimate concern about abortions. I live in the Chicago area and I see advertisements for a free cell phones, but haven’t run across any advertisements for free abortions.

Taking a step back from individual issues, it’s concerning when we (as a society) reached a point where we see those who vote differently than us incapable of virtue. All positions of the opponent are summarily dismissed. There doesn’t seem a platform of curiosity and a desire to learn more.

On the topic of abortion, my personal belief is many Christians are more passionate about being against abortion than understanding the complexities of the larger problem. Someone else raised a good point on this site when discussing the steady stream of stories about Christian leaders who are unable to keep their hands off the vulnerable children they violate. It’s not gay, transgender, or abortion advocates harming children in churches, it’s Christian leadership. As the Christian church struggles with many internal issues that need to be addressed, I can see how abortion is a welcome diversion.

  6. Liz Lykins, please consider adding “recently” or “now-” before the word “disgraced” in the fourth paragraph above. While strongly disagreeing with Pastor Schott’s comments, I wish to eliminate any implication that he was aware of Robert Morris’ sins when the blessing was given. Thanks for posting this article.

  7. Travis,

Totally agree. We are talking about POLICIES. If you vote for the Democrat ticket, you are complicit in promotion of their Satanic policies. Satan is the Prince of the Power of the Air – in other words, he is controlling most of our media at the moment. He is working overtime to make Kamala look viable.

She’s not. Neither is Walz. Their policies come straight out of Hell.

      1. greg,

Being a Christ-follower entails following Christ. He never sinned and he told others to stop sinning. If you are a MAGA Christian, you stand on the Bible.

        What do Democrats stand on?

        1. I don’t see MAGA Christianity standing on the Bible.

Trump brags that he’s never had to ask for forgiveness because he’s such “an honorable man.” And he just told his followers last week on the Laura Ingraham show that “if you are good you go to heaven.”

          1. greg,

Funny how the Trump loving Christians ever address the two statements you mentioned. If Trump is considered a Christian despite the fact he has said “I haven’t asked God to forgive me because I haven’t done anything that needs forgiving”, then they believe the road to Heaven is paved with something besides Christ’s taking on our sins, dying on the cross, and rising again.

The God of the Bible, the Creator of the universe, who is Holy, righteous, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, Who was, is, and yet to come does NOT need anyone He created to help Him achieve or enforce His will or his plan, which scripture says is good, perfect, and pleasing. It also says that He works all things out for the good of those who Him and are called according to His purpose. All things means all things. Including things and people who are sinful and disobedient.

If the God you worship and love needs a white Republican “savior” to enforce His will on people, he is weak, and not the God of the Bible.

      2. Greg, the MAGAs literally made a golden statue of him, and are blind to their idol worship. There is no Christ in them- just power and control. When Christianity partners with political power, it always fails, and looks nothing like Christ. Voting for Donald Trump looks nothing like Christ.

        1. Jen,

Nobody I know makes a “golden statue of him.” Again, you are parroting statements with no basis in reality. Trump is just a man like any other man. Everyone knows that. It is his POLICIES (which you have yet to address) that are attractive, not the man or his personality.

It would be helpful to understand why you seem so bent on destruction of others who disagree with your views.

    1. Abortion and gay marriage are really off the table in the national election.

Trump has accomplished what the pro choice Republicans and the LGBTQ/Log Cabin Republicans dreamed of for the last 40 years.

He forced the GOP into a neutral position on abortion and gay marriage. They’ve moved on. And the GOP will be we go back.

Trump is their hero. That’s why they have GOP Gay Pride events at Mar A Lago and Kaitlyn Jenner speaking at GOP events.

  8. This is hardly news… lots of claiming christians in pews, completely wedded to the equally wicked GOP, have been saying this out loud for years… they will be quite surprised some day in glory, to have to sit at table with millions of people who voted for – Democrats.

  9. What really needs to be addressed is how politics can survive the current crisis. The founding documents of the US, specifically the parts that deal with the legislative, executive and judicial makeup of the government, is creaky and old and unable to create a way forward.

Christians therefore need to seriously think about reforming the government and elections rather than simply voting for who they think is best. It’s clear that one or both sides of the political divide rely upon false information to make up their policies and their views of each other. Political division has always been present throughout history, but the current state is as bad as it can possibly get.

The sort of reforms needed have been introduced in other countries and have served them well. The US should seriously consider adopting these.

These include: Replacing the president with a council of, say, 7 people who have equal power. This is the Swiss system. Getting rid of the electoral college. Having multiple members for congressional districts – say 5 members. Having preferential voting. There is a huge need to fill congress up with a diverse range of people that accurately reflects the districts they are in, and this will include 3rd, 4th and 5th parties. For the judicial system, no limit on the amount of people in the supreme court but a person appointed to it every 2 years.

And then of course there is Sortition – using random selection to select people to serve in the legislature instead of voting them in.

    1. Neil, to base one’s argument for change on “creaky”, “old”, or “this is how others do it” is not a very thoughtful way. The founders didn’t create our constitutional republic in a vacuum. The structure is intentional to balance powers, maximize freedom, and ensure right justice. They knew politics was messy because people are sinful. Although many of your different implementations seem wise, they would not provide for fair representation and susceptible to changing the nature of that branch (for example the council of 7 would likely not be able to handle swift executive action and we already have Congress where representation occurs). But the founders also did provide a way to change all these things if you can get an amendment passed or call a constitutional convention. And even that is there for good reason. It shouldn’t be so easy to change the way government runs with the whims of the time or run the risk to find yourself under singular reign one day.

    2. “What really needs to be addressed is how politics can survive the current crisis.” No. what’s really needed is a revival among the true believers in Christ, to share the Gospel with those who are in the dark.

“The founding documents of the US, specifically the parts that deal with the legislative, executive and judicial makeup of the government, is creaky and old and unable to create a way forward.” That, too, is wrong. The government based on 3 equal unique branches is patterned after the Triune God of the Bible. The design is exquisite; the problem is the members of all 3 branches have abused and neglected their responsibilities to the constitution and the citizens.

      1. “ The design is exquisite..”

Dan, that’s also the viewpoint I was taught in skool, but my subsequent decades of research suggest otherwise: grammatical fraud, once again, played a huge role.

“The Declaration of Independence was a legal, not lawful, document.

It was signed on both sides by representatives of the Crown Temple.

Legally, it announced the status quo of the Crown Colonies to that of the new legal name called “States” as direct possessive estates of the Crown (see the definitions above to understand the legal trickery that was done).

The American people were hoodwinked into thinking they were declaring lawful independence from the Crown.

Proof that the Colonies are still in Crown possession is the use of the word “State” to signify a “legal estate of possession.”

Had this been a document of and by the people, both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution would have been written using the word “states”.

By the use of “State,” the significance of a government of estate possession was legally established.

All of the North American States are Crown Templar possessions through their legal document, signed by their representation of both parties to the contract, known as the Constitution of the United States of America.”

  10. I see that this pastor resorted to using ALL CAPS in his comment. Looks like he’s emulating Trump’s many social media posts that also use ALL CAPS.

ALL CAPS do not magically make what you say true.

  11. Jesus was neither a Republican nor a Democrat but he did warn about false prophets and this pastor sure comes close with a statement like this…and so does Trump with his self-comparisons to Messiah. Y’all consider yourself warned.

  12. The Bible says seek ye first the kingdom of GOD. That means not the kingdom of man. If “YOU”, say that Democrats are not “CHRISTIAN”. THEN? What are you?

  13. The word of God says thou shall not judge. Politics shouldn’t be mixed in the church. Sometimes these pastors loose humility. At the end of the day. No one has the authority to judge someone. God is the ultimate judge. God determines who goes to heaven or hell. These pastors get on these platforms and quick to chastise. By the way focus on serving and doing the work for the kingdom of God. The same people these pastors calling demons might make it into the kingdom of God before them. Everyone has their choice. At the end of the day. I have to face God and answer God not these pastors. God will determine if I am a saint to live in heaven for eternity. Or if I was a demon and cast me into hell. No leader especially in a church should be condemning anyone. Keep your opinions to yourself. Let’s focus on doing the work for the kingdom of God.

        1. Cynthia and PM,

          From your link:

In 2008, the Democratic platform declared that “we need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”

In 2012, “God-given” was out. The Democrats merely embraced “the simple principle that hard work should pay off, responsibility should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us.”

By contrast, the Republicans had increased their platform references to God from two in 2008 to 12 in 2012.

Trump wrote the 20 point 2024 Republican platform himself and released it in June.

Guess how many references to God in those 20 point? ZERO! And the the Republicans at the 2024 GOP Convention voted for it unanimously!

How can you condemn the Democrats for removing God while supporting the Republicans who are doing the exact same thing while you speak?

  14. I fully agree with Pastor Schott!! These people that want to justify themselves are pitiful. The real answer to this issue is that we all will be judged by God. I wish you naysayers good luck when you stand before God almighty. Is it worth it if you are cast into the pits of hell??

    1. Jerry,

Just so I’m clear, are you saying that Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection cover all sins except the “sin” of voting Democrat? If that is what you are saying, then because voting for Democrats is the one “sin” not covered and washed clean by the blood of Jesus, the God will condemn this “evil” liberals to hell? Surely I misread your comment. Please correct me if I did misread it. Because I would owe you an apology for thinking you would make a judgmental, unbiblical statement like what I think I read.

      1. April Slawson,

We are all condemned to Hell, regardless of political stance, if we do not accept Christ’s forgiveness on the cross and follow Him.

For the final time (hopefully), we are talking about POLICIES here. You seem intent on avoiding the issue. Why?

If you vote for Democrats who support abortion, is it not true that you are voting for sin? If you vote for Democrats who support forcing transgenderism on children, is it not true that you are voting for sin? If you vote for Democrats who support homosexual behavior, is it not true that you are voting for sin?

CONCENTRATE on the policies here, not statements from politicians. Not character. Not past words. POLICIES.

  15. And I don’t know how Christians can vote for tRump with all the lies he tells. And he cheated on all three of his wives the last one while she was pregnant. tRump is nothing but a crook and a criminal. So I guess Christians embrace that???

    1. Richard Gonzales:

Hyperbole and half-truths and exaggerations often characterize President Trump. If you understand the term “tongue in cheek,” you will have a better understanding of how he communicates. He is also hilariously funny and plays to the crowd using humor.

Regarding his character, we are not talking about that here. We are talking about POLICIES. If you can explain how any policy currently supported by Republicans is anti-Christian, I would love to hear your opinion.

Did you know that Biden had an affair with Jill while she was still married to her husband? Did you know that he has been credibly accused of sexual assault? Did you know that he has enriched his family using his government position? Did you know that he often borders on pedophilia? Did you know that he plagiarized? Did you know he is a compulsive liar?

I could go on…The point is, all have sinned. We are talking about POLICIES here and helping the USA to grow in strength and prosperity. The Democrat platform is Satanic, no question about it.

      1. Trump yesterday just promised that his second term administration would support women’s reproductive rights.

Do you support his policy on that?

          1. cinthia,

If you have a point to make, make it. JD Vance just said that Trump, who in 2016 campaigned on a national abortion ban, would not veto a national abortion ban.

There is no definition of women’s reproductive rights that does not include abortion.

  16. ““There is only one way to save this country,” Kirk said at a political training conference in Dallas, Texas. “Awake the beast that is the American church.””

…. Someone didn’t consider their word choice very well. 😅

“The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.” Rev 17:8

“When the two witnesses have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will wage war with them, and will overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city—figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where their Lord was also crucified.…” Rev 11:7-8

The church’s role is not to be a “beast” in a culture war battle. What the church needs is martyrs willing to be persecuted, people unashamed to spread the gospel, and loving hearts willing to pray for and love those who persecute us (not mock them or try to “win” them.) What the unbelieving world needs is to know Christ. Only in Christ will they be made new and grow in holiness.

Nor should we be looking to “save the country” by embracing illegal actions by politicians on our “side,” nor by compromising character and the testimony of God in exchange for the possibility of fleeting political power.

    1. Thank you so much for saying exactly what went through my mind when I read that phrase. I was stunned that anyone would characterize the church in that way. But it shines a light into the mindset of certain people who completely misunderstand the gospel.

    2. Jennifer,

I agree 100 percent. If we as the church see the world as the “enemies of God” then it is easy to sway his followers to be God’s swords of wrath against those people.

But Jesus sees them this way: “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and scattered, as sheep not having a shepherd.”

  17. The one good service Trump has done for the country is to expose the emptiness, hypocrisy, and delusions of American evangelicals. Their worship of the liar shows them to be liars themselves. Nothing they preach can be trusted as truth. Nothing.

  18. A person is not a christian just because they were born and raised up in a household that teaches and professes their offsprings to be so. many pastors and teachers doesn’t even know what it truly mean to be a christian. if you’re not obeying the apostles doctrine according to the acts of the apostles you are only a professing christian, not a possessing christian. A really true living christian will be neither a democrat nor a republican because both groups are without the fear of God.
