Las 10 publicaciones principales de 2019

Por Julie Roys

2019 was a banner year for exposing corruption and abuse in the evangelical world. Nearly 3.4 million people visited my blog last year, which exceeded even 2015 when a post of mine about abortion survivor gianna jessen went viral. Most of my top stories concerned either James MacDonald or Harvest Bible Chapel. However, my top post—with more than 175,000 views—was a response to the apostasy of Joshua Harris and Marty Sampson.

Here are the top 10 stories from last year. I’m amazed at all God revealed and accomplished through this blog. And I’m grateful for every source who entrusted his or her story and information to me. This was a team effort!

1. Christian Rocker Posts Stunning Response to Recent Apostasy of Christian Leaders

Lead singer for the band Skillet posts a stunning response to the public renunciations of Christianity by Joshua Harris and former Hillsong songwriter, Marty Sampson.

2. Mancow Airs Shocking Comments By James MacDonald: My Response

Chicago radio personality Mancow Muller airs vulgar and shocking clips of James MacDonald on his morning show. Harvest then fires MacDonald.

3. James MacDonald Took Millions from Harvest & Now Demands Broadcast Ministry

Harvest leaders reveal that James took nearly $1 million/year in total compensation from Harvest Bible Chapel, as well as about $1 million in discretionary funds. MacDonald also reportedly is demanding his broadcast ministry, Walk in the Word.

4. Chicago Radio Host & a Former Bodyguard Say James MacDonald Asked Them to Arrange Murders

Mancow Muller and a former bodyguard of James MacDonald say MacDonald sought to hire hitmen to arrange murders.

5. Josh Harris Kisses His Faith Goodbye

Famous Besé adiós a las citas author and former pastor, Joshua Harris, renounces his faith and apologizes for his “self-righteous, fear-based approach to life.”

6. Former Harvest Employees Say James MacDonald Lived Large on Church’s Dime

Former Harvest Bible Chapel employees say James MacDonald used church funds for extravagant personal expenses, including African safaris, expensive cigars, and month-long vacations in Naples, Florida.

7. Pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel Naples Asks for His Church Back in Wake of James MacDonald Controversy

The founding pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel (HBC) Naples, John Secrest, asks leadership in Chicago to reverse their decision to allow James MacDonald to preach in Naples, and also to return HBC Naples to local autonomy. Minutes after article posts, Harvest fires Secrest.

8. James MacDonald is Fired: A Day to Mourn, to Pray, & to Plead for Revival

The day Harvest Bible Chapel fired James MacDonald was not a day to celebrate, but a day to mourn, to pray, and to plead with God for revival.

9. In Subpoenaed Text, James MacDonald Admits Church Took Money From Harvest Bible Fellowship, But Admits No Fault

In texts to former Harvest Bible Fellowship (HBF) pastors, James MacDonald admits that Harvest inappropriately took at least $1.8 million from HBF. But he places the blame on other employees, not himself.

10. James MacDonald’s Sons Resign As Shakeup at Harvest Continues

The week after Harvest Bible Chapel fired James MacDonald, both his sons—Luke and Landon MacDonald—resign their positions as executive pastors at the church.

  1. I find it interesting that a celeb pastor seeking to kill his enemies only makes it to #4 on this list. I really liked the #1 post, but a murderous pastor is only #4?

    1. That’s because it was a bogus story. Two police departments (Winnetka where Mancow lives in a multi-million $$$ mansion and Bloomingdale (where the fake incident supposedly happened) BOTH of these police departments investigated the report, collaborated with each other and got the FBI involved. At the end of their investigations, the FBI and both police departments said it was a FAKE story. Mancow got LOTS of free publicity for his radio show and neither Roys nor Mancow retracted the story or apologized for the fake story.
