Unpacking Joni Lamb’s Voodoo Prayer
/

Is it okay to pray for God to curse our enemies and to “inflict double punishment” for messing with “the Lord’s anointed”? Daystar TV President Joni Lamb recently did just that—and even invited viewers to join her!

According to Joni, God told her to pray that voodoo prayer. But would God really do that? What does Scripture have to say about it?

In this podcast episode, Lance Ford—an author, pastor, and The Roys Report board member—joins host Julie Roys to unpack this prayer loaded with false doctrine and red flags. As Daystar TV abuse and financial scandals continue to make headlines, their analysis provides new, essential context.

For starters, Lance says Joni’s claim that the Lord told her to pray the prayer is a prime example of taking the Lord’s name in vain and breaking one of the 10 Commandments. Yet, appropriating God’s voice is common on Daystar TV, especially by Joni Lamb.

Lance also addresses who the “Lord’s anointed” are and the concept of “dominion” and “territory.” He also explains why Joni’s prayer shows a fundamental misunderstanding of who God is and what’s involved in spiritual warfare.

If you’ve sensed something was off about Joni’s prayer, but couldn’t explain exactly what, or show how it violates Scripture, you’re going to really benefit from this podcast.

  1. Dear Sister Julie,
Thanks so much for being sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading as you continue to expose Satan’s devices, specifically in Lamb’s delving into her “spiritual mysticism” . As I stress in my BIBLICAL BUM STEERS, today’s Christian can be prepared only as they bury themselves in God’s Word studying to show themselves approved unto God. I would challenge you to investigate God’s war on Church “traditionalism” as Biblically presented in my book available on Amazon. It is not being marketed because I don’t have the financial resources to accomplish that. Keep up the good work as God continues to bless.

  2. Julie true or real Christians must surely be able to discern the wickedness and corruption in Joni Lamb by now!!

    1. In Christianese, “Discernment(TM)” has been redefined to mean smelling-out WITCHES! and DEMONS! in every closet, under every bed, and in that sweater you bought at a thrift shop (or that fantasy-art print of a cobra babe you bought at a convention art show).

Just as “Taking the LORD’s Name In Vain” has been redefined to mean cussing and cussing alone.

Remember Screwtape’s epistle to Wormwood about “redefining the Enemy’s words into their ‘diabolical meanings'”?

  3. Why do you keep featuring extreme voices who all are so opposed to anything Pentecostal or charismatic. This isn’t an indictment against Joni’s prayer, it’s disgust for all things charismatic. And interesting he doesn’t mention all the times David’s prayers to do much worse. I want to support you but why such one sided voices?

    1. Neither Lance nor I are extreme or anti-Charismatic. As we stated in the podcast, both of us have Charismatic leanings. What we are against are Charismatic abuses, which Joni and Doug seem to exhibit regularly.

  4. What are the specific characteristics of leaning charismatic? speaking in tongues? Performing miracles? faith healing? driving out demons? Prophecy future events? Many believers like me, still don’t know and understand it. Thank you.

  5. “Is it okay to pray for God to curse our enemies and to “inflict double punishment” for messing with “the Lord’s anointed”? Daystar TV President Joni Lamb recently did just that—and even invited viewers to join her!”

Where I come from, such “imprecatory prayer” is called “Putting a Hex on someone”. In the words of Pennsylvania Dutch lore, this Lamb thinks she “can do more than bake bread”. And both PA Dutch and Appalachian lore are full of Witches and Witch-men using their Conjured/Summoned/Familiar Spirits as their personal Enforcers. What is the difference other than invoking the Biggest Spirit of all?

“O GREAT CHEMOSH! O GREAT BA’AL! RAIN DEATH AND DESTRUCTION DOWN UPON ALL MINE ENEMIES!” — Line from a half-remembered 1950s Biblical-epic movie (The Story of Ruth?)

  6. A Prophetic Voice from 2024?

Since “Prophetic Voices” from 2016 on have continuously mistaken Donald Trump for Jesus Christ, I am skeptical about such citations.

And the “wind blowing into the enemy’s camp” sounds a lot like that famous Kenneth Copeland video from 2020 where he blew COVID away (through the TV screen, no less) with some sort of Divine Wind..

As for this Crick character, PA Dutch and Appalachian lore are full of stories of Witches and Conjure-men who extort money and goods out of people with supernatural claims and powers and threats of curses.

Around 24 minutes in: According to Jewish tradition, THAT is the real meaning of that commandment. (And how it has been redefined into a “diabolical meaning” of misdirection worthy of Screwtape.) According to the Rabbis, what God is saying is “You do your own dirty work! Don’t drag me into it! Not even by mentioning my Name!” (P.S. I say “cuss”, too.)

  7. I have to push back in a couple things, 1) Julie’s comment about Islam’s God as retributive treats a faith that she isn’t well versed on as a monolith. Not all Islamic theology see’s God as retributive. I think a little more care and attention to your understanding of a foreign faith is needed; 2) Julie’s mention of a X thread where someone uses the article about Daystar’s misappropriation of funds as a “case against Christianity, she says that “that isn’t Christianity.” I’m sorry, but that is a cop-out. Daystar is a type of Christianity and we as Christians need to own it. The distinction is in Chirstlikeness, which I think is important. Thank you.

  8. I have a problem with the misrepresentation of Islam as a monolith. I think you need to be careful about making claims about a faith that is not your own. Unless you have a particular expertise and experience about Islam, please correct me if I am wrong. I think it best not to use a foreign faith to equate a christianity you think is false. Which leads to my next point. Daystar’s christianity, is christianity. We cannot cop-out and claim that they don’t have a real christianity, when christianity is a social movement and all Christians beed to own the fact that it has and does behave badly. The key distinction is if it is Christlike or not. Thank you
