Chris Reed, CEO and president of the prophetic ministry MorningStar, resigned Tuesday, telling The Roys Report (TRR) it was because he’s “standing on the side of victims,” who are suing the ministry. But Wednesday, after TRR confronted him with allegations he pursued a woman sexually in 2021, Reed admitted sending the woman “terrible” sexual texts and kissing her.
Reed still maintains he resigned because of the lawsuit filed August 7 against MorningStar, alleging that the ministry mishandled child sex abuse by a former volunteer leader, Erickson Lee. The alleged abuse occurred before Reed became MorningStar CEO. And Reed said he doesn’t want to be “the face of” a ministry engaged in a legal battle.
However, in the wake of the resignation, TRR learned of the allegations of sexual misconduct in 2021 and was able to contact the woman involved. At the time of the misconduct, Reed, who’s married and has six children, was the pastor of MorningStar Fellowship Church and in line to become CEO of MorningStar.
The woman, who asked TRR to use only her first name, Kathryn, was seven years younger than Reed and a student at MorningStar where Reed was a leader. (TRR has a policy of not naming alleged victims of clergy sexual abuse, unless they request otherwise. Experts consider any sexual involvement between a person in spiritual authority and someone under him abuse because of the power differential.)
“I sorely regret it,” Reed told TRR. “I take full responsibility for it. It wasn’t her fault at all. I’m fully, fully to blame.”

Kathryn told TRR that Reed started the relationship with a prophecy about her. The two then met frequently alone in Reed’s van during November and December 2021. Reed would often kiss her, Kathryn said, and one encounter included Reed touching her genitals. Reed also sent her “vulgar” texts, she said.
“I felt very bright and shiny that I was being given attention by the great Chris Reed,” Kathryn told TRR. “We kissed all the time . . . He said things that a man of honor, even with his wife, should not have said.”
Reed told TRR on Tuesday that the relationship involved texting only and claimed he stopped it and decided to set a boundary.
Similarly, TRR spoke Tuesday with MorningStar Founder and Chairman Rick Joyner, who will be taking over as MorningStar CEO. Joyner didn’t think the relationship “crossed any kind of a line.” He added that he met with Kathryn about the matter and made sure she was okay.
“We thought it had gone far enough that it needed discipline and restoration, and boundaries set with female students,” Joyner said Tuesday. “Chris was all for it. I think Chris handled it in the best way it could’ve been done.”
However, on Wednesday, when confronted by TRR with the woman’s allegations, Reed admitted he met Kathryn alone in a public parking lot, where they only hugged. When TRR asked if they also kissed, Reed said yes, but denied any kind of sexual touching.
“There was no sexual encounter,” he said. “She’s never seen me unclothed or touched me unclothed. I’ve never seen her unclothed or touched her unclothed.”
TRR called Joyner on Wednesday for comment, as well, but he did not respond.
Kathryn said she’s speaking up now because she believes in a good God.
“It’s not about me; it’s about the Lord,” she said. “It’s about the goodness of God.”
Kathryn shared the private Facebook messages Chris initiated with her in November 2021, showing Reed pursued her and called her more “special” than other students. He also prophesied over her, asked for her class schedule, gave her his personal cell phone number, and asked if she had a tattoo.
Both Kathryn and her mom, Karen, who also asked to be identified by only her first name, told TRR that Kathryn disclosed the matter, including sexual texts to several MorningStar leaders in February 2022, with Karen also present. Kathryn said she no longer has the phone with the sexual texts on it.
Karen, who brought her kids to MorningStar because she believes God led them there, said she hopes revealing this now will lead to redemption and restoration for all.
“We want (Reed) to get the healing and restoration he needs and also (Kathryn),” Karen said. “I’ve always been about getting people the resources they need so they can be fully restored.”
Reed told TRR he became MorningStar’s CEO in March 2023, a year after originally scheduled because of his misconduct. Reed said he stepped down from public preaching for a short time but continued in other leadership responsibilities at MorningStar throughout 2022.
Reed also said he publicly told the church that he’d done something “wrong” but didn’t go into specifics.
“Here’s what I told the church, ‘I take full responsibility for it. There was a situation in my life where I needed the grace of God. It did not involve sex or money or notoriety, but it was still wrong and I had to talk to my elders in my life and be accountable about it,’” Reed said.
Lawsuit prompts resignation
Initially, Reed sent a cryptic letter to staff Tuesday, announcing his resignation, which he admitted “may come as a surprise, and perhaps even a shock, to some of you.”
He added, “There are many reasons behind this choice, but primarily, after three years of serving here, including over a year as CEO and President, I have come to realize that I cannot continue in this role.
“My calling has always been, and remains, to prophesy, pastor, teach, preach, and write. That is why I have made the decision to return fully to what God has called me to.”
Later on Tuesday, Reed told TRR he resigned because of the lawsuit. When TRR asked if he resigned due to any allegations made about Reed, he added that he wanted to be transparent about a texting relationship “several years ago.”
The lawsuit against MorningStar was filed August 7 in the York County Sixteenth Judicial District in South Carolina. It alleges that Erickson Lee, who led MorningStar’s “Young Special Forces” ministry for young teenage boys from 2019 to 2022, abused multiple children tied to the ministry.
The alleged abuse happened before Reed took over from Rick Joyner as MorningStar CEO.
Reed told TRR Tuesday, “I don’t want to be involved in being the face of a ministry and answering questions about a legal battle that didn’t involve me. I walked away with nothing because I won’t fight against minors who were abused . . . I’m standing on the side of victims.”
One of the alleged victims, called “John Doe,” and his parents are suing Lee, Lee’s father Doug Lee, MorningStar Fellowship Church, Rick Joyner, former MorningStar VP Dave Yarns, and 10 unnamed MorningStar staff or ministry associates. The suit alleges that multiple leaders, including Joyner, failed to tell staff or students about allegations against Erickson in early 2023.
“Erickson Lee was quietly asked to step down,” the suit alleges. “Morningstar, Joyner, Yarns, and Doug Lee allowed a predator to run a church youth organization for years and then when caught, they tried to cover it up.”
Lee, who was a former Marine on his way to being a cop, ran the program “with little supervision,” the suit states. Soon, Lee gave Doe alcohol, vapes, and pornography, and took boys on overnight trips, according to the lawsuit.
On one trip, “Erickson Lee then forced the boys to get naked in front of him and then take a shower together,” the suit alleges. It adds that Lee began sexually abusing Doe when Doe was 14.
Last year, Lee was arrested by the York County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit for dissemination of obscene material to a person under the age of 18, assault and battery, and criminal sexual conduct.
Joyner called the lawsuit’s accusations against the ministry “outrageous” in a statement MorningStar emailed to TRR and also posted, but later removed, from MorningStar Ministries’ app.
“They alleged many outrageous things about the ministry that are not true,” Joyner wrote in the statement. “None of the leaders of MorningStar were charged with anything or were in any way involved in this.”
Alleged use of prophecy to perpetrate abuse: ‘There is something special on you’
According to Kathryn and her mother, Karen, Reed’s sexual predation was a betrayal by someone both women looked up to as a spiritual leader.
Karen said she prayed for 10 years about moving her family to the MorningStar community. Kathryn remembers she was 17 when she began attending MorningStar Fellowship Church.
“I had my first prophetic experience there,” Kathryn said. “Everything with my spiritual mentoring started at MorningStar.”
Kathryn went to several prophetic conferences over the years, including the Advanced Prophetic Conference in 2020 where Reed spoke.
When Reed moved to MorningStar in 2021 to pastor and prepare to take over from Joyner as CEO, Kathryn said she finally met Reed for the first time. She said she gave him a prophetic word about a book he was writing.
A few months later, on Nov. 7, 2021, Reed private messaged her on Facebook, opening the conversation with a prophecy about her.
“I really wanted to tell you that I felt today you came throw (sic) rough season successfully at some point,” he wrote in a private Facebook message. “But I see you getting a second wind and gaining traction for your destiny.”
A few texts later, Reed said she was special.
“I’ve got to know a few of the students,” he wrote. “But I think there is something special on you.”
That same day, he also asked her age, her class schedule, told her he would be taking over from Joyner as CEO, and told her to reach out anytime. Two days later, he said he saw her and sensed she was struggling. Then he gave her his personal phone number, telling her not to share it with anyone else.
“I can’t extend my time personally to everyone,” he wrote. “But I feel like I am for you.”
She said he later asked her to store his number in her phone under a different name.
She would later see his prophecy, texts, and other spiritual conversations with him as “manipulation” that quickly escalated to a physical relationship.
“He gave me this false word of knowledge . . .” she said. “Then I got sucked in and the manipulation started.”
He sometimes sent Kathryn money, which she verified by showing TRR a Dec. 21, 2021, gift of $250 from Reed in her cash app. When he visited her class, she said he’d text her and tell her she looked “sexy.” He used the Bible to explain the temptation.
“The thing that started getting me concerned is when he would start justifying the relationship,” she said. “He would compare himself to David in the Bible.”
She also shared a Dec. 8 journal entry with TRR in which she said she’d “fallen in love with a man who was already spoken for.”
“I’ve compromised my moral compass and given into my flesh over and over again,” she wrote. “I’m a foolish woman. I wish I could write his name, but I cannot.”
Meanwhile, Karen said she saw Kathryn texting with Reed often and pried for more information, until Kathryn disclosed more details.
Kathryn told TRR that after the sexual touching in Reed’s van, she and Reed started pulling away from each other. By late December, they mutually decided to end things but not tell anyone.
But in February, two MorningStar leaders, Justin Perry and Tom Hardiman, called Kathryn in for a disciplinary meeting, Kathryn said. She said she had struggled with addiction and had a marijuana joint in her car that she’d smoke to help with her anxiety.
Kathryn hadn’t intended to share with them what had happened with Reed but ended up telling them about the kissing in the car and van. She said she also showed them sexually explicit text messages from Reed, including one in which she said he wanted to tie her to a bed and do sexual acts to her. Karen attended the meeting with the leaders too and confirmed this with TRR.
Neither Perry nor Hardiman immediately returned messages TRR sent them asking for comment. Hardiman now directs MorningStar’s Fellowship of Ministries. Perry is no longer an employee.
A few days later, Joyner invited Kathryn and Karen to meet with him, Perry, and Hardiman to explain what happened. Kathryn said she disclosed all but the genital touching to Joyner.
Karen said Joyner was compassionate to her daughter, offering her counseling money.
“But he did say, ‘Either you trust us or you don’t,’” Karen said.
Despite the allegations, Joyner resigned as MorningStar CEO in 2023, and Reed assumed the top leadership role.
Kathryn said she hadn’t intended to speak publicly.
“I have held my tongue for almost three years,” she said. “You know when you’re waiting and you’re praying and it’s almost like you’re waiting on a breakthrough for so long, you kind of forget about it?”
But she said when TRR called her Wednesday following an anonymous tip, she believed it was an invitation from God to finally speak.
“I feel like God woke me up this morning in preparation for your phone call,” she told TRR. “It was like, ‘Oh hey, my daughter, put your armor on this morning. Let’s go.’”
Correction 8/30: A detail regarding the 2021 relationship between Kathryn and Reed was clarified for accuracy.

Not victim blaming, but I never message any male leader this much. Women should mentor women, men should mentor men. The charismatic church has been annihilated by scandals, hard to take any of thel seriously at this point.
I agree. That said, it seems like Chris Reed who initiated the conversation with this lady. If Chris felt that the lady could use help and mentorship, why not ask his wife to reach out to her? Or, let other mature women in the church or ministry circle take the lead.
Yes absolutely! Young women need older women, not men. Men must ONLY minister in a public setting.
Bologna, there should be zero issues with a Godly man interacting with women including young attractive ones. If they can’t handle themselves they are false prophets and should not be in any kind of ministry period! Lousy and weak doctrine is to blame for much of the issues.
It was wrong and totally inappropriate of her.
Wait, a young woman is groomed by a spiritual authority figure and you say it was inappropriate of her???
Of HIM. Fixed it for you
She was responding to attention from her authority. There is no room in these cultures for anyone to ignore authorities. He was grooming and pursuing her, and the entire system is set up for that. Were she to say “no” at any time, she would be accused of being rebellious and denying the authority of “God’s annointed”.
This is all and entirely on him.
He was the one with power. He was the one pursuing and being a predator. He was thee one running right past lines of appropriateness.
This is 0% her fault.
It is the LEADER’S job to be clear on boundaries, not their victim’s.
Also, I have completely appropriate friendships with many men, that include texting- it’s absolutely possible if you have character. the solution is to hire people with character, not to forbid texting.
Thanks for TRR for this news. Very sad news. We can’t expect them to judge Trump or fellow ministers when they misbehave because they have the same sins.
Trump is not a minister. We need different kinds of fruit from ministers.
Thanks, i know that what i am saying is that back in 2016 many preachers were pretty soft on calling out Trump when the video was released where Trump was really inappropriate towards women. I am just saying you don’t want to call others sins when you are in sin yourself. I know Trump is not a minister obviously but he is in position of power and we as Christian believe that those who confess themselves as Christian and being in authority, they should be without reproach.
A spiritual authority figure who grooms subordinates should never be put in authority again. Chris should become a plumber or something, just never in ministry ever again.
What does Trump have to do with it? He was wrong and an unsaved man at the time.
It is called Trump Derangement Syndrome. It is a new category in the revised DSM-6-TR Manual. It is a psychological impairment that can be treated with extensive therapy. By the way, did you know HE is responsible for Global Warming! Just thought I would let you know. Also, what is up with these “Prophetic Ministries?” It seems like God is telling these people it is His Will to take advantage of the Sheeples ALL THE TIME. And it wasn’t sexual as Chris explained.
Amen, don’t bring Trump into this. Has nothing to do with him.
And now Trump is “saved”? I’d sure like to see some kind of evidence for it, or shouldn’t we expect “saved Christians” to demonstrate that in their lives? Please give me ANY EVIDENCE that Donald Trump shows the SLIGHTEST sign of being regenerate Ms. Wick. You know, the fruits of the Spirit” and all of that stuff that doesn’t seem to matter to the Evangelical Church anymore.
Character Matters.
“Restoration Rick” doing his thing again. My oh my, he certainly has a knack for restoring to ministry those involved in sexual immorality. Kinda makes you wonder why, no?
There have been other allegations against Chris Reed in the past, which got less attention because they weren’t sexual abuse, but rather prophetic manipulation and fakery. Yet these sins often go together.
https://prophecytoday.uk/comment/church-issues/item/3073-house-of-cards-falling-part-2.html
And here again is the spiritual fruit of Bob Jones and Paul Cain, the Kansas City prophets who were (and still are) honored at MorningStar and IHOPKC (and other groups I was once close to) as phenomenal men of God.
The defense expressed to me was that yes, they were abusive and manipulative, had sexual sin, and occasionally gave false predictions. But their prophecy was sometimes remarkably accurate.
Which meant that something worse was at work… and still is in those who honor their legacy.
We haven’t seen the end of the scandals. The LORD will not relent until He has uprooted the whole tree.
Thanks Hannah for the link, indeed there has been so many allegations. Many of his prophetic words have been incorrect. You are absolutely right the honoring the likes of Bob Jones and Cain’s ministries is not correct at all
Amen to your message Hannah! And this sexual abuse cycle needs to STOP NOW in Jesus name!!!!! And of all things to put the blame on the woman is enough!! Cuz full of the word and full of the Holy Spirit Chris Reed KNEW BETTER!!!!!!! It was time for PROPHESYING CHRIS REED to step down, seek strong GODLY COUNSEL, stay out of the ministry–BE STILL and HEAR instructions from our LOVING Heavenly Father next steps!!!!! It is so time for true TRANSPARENCY in the Body of Christ nowwww!!!
Many of these charismatic spirit filled (speak in tongues) leaders seem to have one thing in common. They are void of the fruit of the Spirit. Don’t they have more of the Spirit than those of us who aren’t “spirit filled”?
My conclusion is that many of them are simply clowns who deceive and are deceived, delusional and degenerate to the core.
Even those in Corinth had giftings but were in sin. Sin doesn’t mean the person doesn’t have the Holy Spirit.
Incorrect. SOME in Corinth were in sin. And it doesn’t say ANYWHERE in either of the two epistles two the Corinthians that people in sin had spiritual giftings.
That is false. Just like all policemen are not corrupt.
All policemen choose to participate in a corrupt system, therefore all policemen participate in corruption.
The same can be said about churches that prop up, excuse, or hide the abuse of their leadership. If people aren’t leaving as soon as they find out, they are participating in corruption. In this case, I’m guessing Joyner is also committing sexual sin and abuse, because of how willing he is to accept it and not root it out. Just a guess, but I bet we’ll see his name more prominantly on this website soon, now that things are coming to light.
Didn’t Rick Joyner “restore” Todd Bentley?
Once upon a time I liked and respected Joyner. Then I saw him say that God told Him to restore Todd Bentley who is bisexual and reportedly played “who wants to be a prostitute today?” with his interns of both sexes. This is simply blasphemous to put those kind of words in God’s mouth about a snake. I am not surprised about any of this news. I see Joyner for what he truly is. I could not possibly have less respect for him now. There is no room for CEO’s in God’s house. It is just mammon based worldliness. This “ministry” needs to go the way of IHOP. There ain’t no Jesus in it. Just a bunch of hype and people who get fooled because they want reality to be very different from what it truly is.
“Prophetic ministry?”
He didn’t see this coming?
Funny how all those people who has the so-called “prophetic gifts” never see their sex scandals and inevitable falls.
Is anybody putting two and two together on Rick? In his now deleted post he for the first time ever admitted his own adultery by saying like Chris, Paul and Bob he did the same and it cost him TEN YEARS?! When exactly did this happen then?
I believe Chris is has been given the gift of prophecy and anointed to teach God’s Word. He shared in his letter of resignation being sexually molested when he was 7. Many of us have soul wounds, even though we’ve accepted Christ and we’re fulfilling our destiny’s .. if we don’t get the inner healing then it will manifest later.. Satan uses that. My prayers go to Kathryn.. as she was vulnerable. Praying for restoration and healing for her. Praying for Chris that he is transparent before the Lord and receives the inner healing he desperately needs. Praying for family. What sets Chris apart is he is admitting to what he did unlike Mike Bickle and others who have been expose.
Regardless of Chris’s past, he is leading many astray. Admitting to what he did should be a given as a pastor not the exception to the rule. That is the least he can do. He needs to repent, and even still he can never be a pastor again according to scripture. Grooming goes beyond having a sinful downfall. It is iniquity because it is planned. Also, fulfilling our destiny is hogwash, honestly. We are not put on earth to fulfill our destiny, that’s what gets us into trouble, it’s the wrong focus. We must focus on the chief end of man, to glorify God. As long as we have a “seeker” mentality, we will be focused on a surface relationship with Christ. We must study God’s word IN CONTEXT and get rid of this feel good Christianity that focuses on what God is doing for me and how I feel about it. We are here to serve Him and at times, suffer as Christ suffered.
Thank you Barbara for truth about grooming.
He’s utterly disqualified for leadership and his own childhood abuse is not an excuse for grooming.
In my opinion, Chris is a liar. He never had angels visiting him giving him prophecies and words. He never had words of knowledge: they were all general words, info about people from online, or guesses. Never did the Spirit move thru him in this way. He’s been lying this way to appear spiritual and super gifted. He is therefore a deceiver and has been for a long time. The Body should have been told about his sins as well. They were hidden by Joyner. So when Chris says he was abused at age 7, must I believe him? No. I don’t think he was, in fact. I think it’s an excuse. If it’s true, yeah, well I can give him mercy and prayer for that. But he’s a longtime deceiver and not a man following Jesus. He needs to get a job and leave the Body alone. And his teaching that the apostle John is still alive hiding in a cave until Jesus returns?
What are the “outrageous allegations” in the lawsuit Rick said “were so outrageous” MSM won’t settle but fight in court? He took that weird post down where he responded to Reed’s resignation. It was a very Mike Bickle snake like statement. Bait and switch. There is a MUCH LARGER scandal here. You are seeing manipulative damage control. Also what is Rick’s sex scandal he says “cost him more than 10 years of ministry? I have screenshots of his original statement before he took it down if you need it.
The body of Christ needs to pray for their leaders more.
It’s our fault Chris has been lying for years about his visions and angel visits and words of knowledge and apostle John still alive? It’s our fault he is a wolf?
The body of Christ needs to examine and vet their leaders more. Including when they’re in leadership. We need accountability.
Let’s not beat around the bush: No one in their right mind would employ an accountant who has been caught cheating and lying. I would not employ a surgeon who has a drinking problem and I sure as hell would not “submit” or “sit under the teaching”, or whatever Charismatic and Evangelicals call it now, of a philandering sex pest. Restoration of ministers involved in clergy sexual abuse does not mean putting them back in ministry with any authority in a church setting. Go sit in a pew and behave yourself. At best, Joyner has been duped.
** Reed private messaged her on Facebook, opening the conversation with a prophecy about her.
“I really wanted to tell you that I felt today you came throw (sic) rough season successfully at some point,” he wrote in a private Facebook message. “But I see you getting a second wind and gaining traction for your destiny.” **
This is a “prophecy”? It might as well be a prediction from a “psychic reader” with a 1-800 number. “I ‘predict’ that you’ve had some downturns in your life, but things will probably get better eventually.”
When David sinned, God sent him a prophet to confront him openly. When these ministries full of “prophets” sin, none of the other prophets are told to confront them. It always comes out, sometimes many years later, in some natural way. God does expose it, but never through those He supposedly gives words to all the time.
King David cold-heartedly and calculatingly schemed to have Uriah killed on the front line of battle (Uriah unwittingly even carried his own death summons from the king directly to Joab, the top commander for execution of the deadly command for Uriah’s death) in order to obfuscate David’s sin of adultery and subsequent pregnancy with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba. (Even when the king had prior ordered a leave of absence from battle for Uriah, Uriah had refused to visit with his wife intimately or otherwise; but instead slept at the door of the king’s palace, honourably, because of those who were in the battle …) For this, the baby died after he was born, just as Nathan had prophesied to David. Consequences are real, and for this we weep over such sexual indiscretions of leaders of YHWH’s people, His sheep. BUT THERE IS FORGIVENESS IN YAHSHUA, as even David found, when he repented. May all people awaken to Righteousness this day, and Hope be restored in the lives of these very young men who were molested while under the care of this ministry and also for the Christopher Reed person, family and marriage, as well as the woman physically involved with Christopher, Kathryn, in Yahshua’s Name. He cares. He restores. He makes whole again. “A bruised reed He will not break. The smoking flax He will not quench.”
But God does not restore pastors to stand in pulpits. They live and preach by different rules than you or I.
We’re under the NEW Covenant now (if we’re Christians).
Nowhere in the New Testament are we told to “imitate David” but we ARE told once outright to imitate Christ (1st Corinthians 11:1) and it’s also implied strongly throughout the books and letters.
In fact, the word “Christian” means “little Christ” or “Christ follower” (imitator).
David lived before Jesus, before the Resurrection, before Pentecost, before the Holy Spirit could indwell: John 7:39 & 14:16-17, Romans 8, Galatians 5:22-24…
Heartbroken for everyone involved. Let him without sin cast the first stone. Heavenly Father, in the powerful name of Jesus, Let your healing love flow into the hearts of all involved and bring healing, forgiveness, and restoration as only You can through the powerful blood of Jesus Amen
this is a cop out that protects predators in the pulpit.
No one is asking pastors to be perfect, but it’s a completely reasonable expectation that pastors don’t sexually prey on… anyone. especially people that they have power and control over.
I pray that the victim is fully restored to wholeness and faith.
I pray that Chris is restored to fellowship, but never power, influence or a pulpit that he can use to harm others with. Pastors only get one chance to abuse their congregation, and after that, they should never hold authority again. If you prove you’re willing to abuse people, you’re done. there are plenty of ways to minister where you can’t abuse people.
“Let him without sin cast the first stone.” You are taking this verse out of context.
Open your eyes. This man groomed and used his position of power to manipulate this woman.
In the same passage, Jesus tells the woman caught in adultery to “GO AND SIN NO MORE”.
I always wonder why more people don’t quote that phrase instead (as well as verses from Romans 6 and 1st John chapter 3).
It would be so refreshing to see for a change…
Oh my the Prophecies of Sis Celestial of the Masters Voice of Prophecy are yet again exposing all the lies and hypocrisies of today’s scam artists
I’m just so exhausted by all the divinely-coated prophetic claims of “God has called me…” or “I have a calling from God”. It’s manipulative. And, it’s sort of non-falsifiable in some circles.
And many of the sheep instantly trust in and believe the “calling” claim, because, after all the flowery, authoritative, biblically-backed-up language by the claimant, how does one prove the claim wrong? Afterwards, when the dust has settled, the claim is then discovered to be obviously transparently wrong (though only by a few voices in the wilderness). Yet, many will still deny it as being a grossly-inaccurate-and-widely-defended claim, because they have placed the claimant on the pedestal of “God’s anointed”. You know, people like the major “prophets”, such as: B.H., K.C., J.B., S.S., J.D., etc., along with a vast proliferation of minor “prophets”, such as H.K., L.W., J.E., J.L., R.B., M.M., etc.
Wouldn’t it be nice if God “called” more of the church’s skeptics to vocally doubt and challenge all these claimants?
Will somebody please explain what the whole ”Prophetic word”, speaking a Prophecy over someone is all about ?
Example, the victim stated she gave him a Prophetic word about a book he was writing. Is that diiferent than simply encouraging someone in need. Is this prophecy topic similar to claiming to know hope to use a crystal ball to predict the future . It seems to fly in the face of the common sense the Lord gave us.
As one who looked carefully into this, but was never of it, it is the adopting of Gypsy style vague encouraging words about God’s plan for someone in the future. This is not to dismiss the genuine. I have seen certain things, but never like this, never delivered the way that they do. God is free to speak what He wants when He wants how He wants whenever He wants to anyone. Much of it can be encouragement from the Word which requires no actual Word of Prophecy. But the more specific stuff is almost always just fake. Everything you see on a stage is fake. The real is done deep in the background and there is no Mammon associated with it. And no one is hogging the spotlight with it. And you cannot go and pay money somewhere to get an accurate word. The Holy Spirit is not a Gypsy Spirit of paid divination.
As a forensic psychologist I find it intriguing that the cell phone which contains the alleged sexual content texts is no longer in the possession of the alleged victim. Unverifiable. That makes this all hearsay. It’s a matter of he said she said at this point. And the other question is… Why now? Supposedly the matter was addressed, repented of, resolved, and offers of counseling and restoration. What is this woman’s motivation to stir up trouble at this time? It’s all terribly sad and discouraging.
Chris Reed told Rebecca that he is in possession of the texts and that some board members have seen them. Reed also admitted sending her terrible texts, so it is verified information.
Judge not, lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged. It doesn’t say for the thing you judge, but in the way you judge. There is a way of judging that brings judgement. Beware, lest you find yourself suffering the consequences of judging. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Jesus said forgive 70×7 times. Sin is not categorized where one sin is considered unforgivable and others are of less consequence. All sin is wrong and damaging to those involved. If we do not forgive men, neither will our Father in heaven forgive us.
The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years on an 11 day journey. Because they murmured and complained and because of unbelief, they did not enter into the promised land. How many of us have murmured and complained? How many have lied? Coveted? Maligned others?
There is only one judge and that is God. As some have said, we are to be like Jesus. Jesus said in John 12:47, “I did not come to judge the world, but to save it.
What is our motivation? What is our sin? What is in our heart? What is our relationship like with our Father God and with His Son Jesus. Do we want what God wants or what we want? While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Only God knows the heart, we do not. That is why we are adjured not to judge. God can and will judge truthfully.
We are led by the Spirit in the new covenant, not by the prophets like Israel was. Prophecy is for encouragement not direction. Also we are to study the Word for ourselves to make sure that what our pastor teaches is scriptural. Very few Christians actualy know their bibles, Ephesians 5 clearly teaches that people involved in sexual sin will not inherit the kingdom of God. Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers ARE SERVANTS NOT LEADERS, we are led by the Spirit of God.
James, I couldn’t agree more. Thank you.
Where are all the christian leaders with spiritual and biblical discernment? You cannot have sin in the camp of any kind if you want God’s favor, protection, and blessings. In these last days, God is exposing ALL who are professing to be His while living for their own lust. None of this should be sugar coated – you are either hot or cold. There is no fence – We are in very serious times and no one should continue to be in a ministry leadership position who does such acts as these – and the leadership that allows such acts should step down as well.
WHY AREN’T THESE MINISTERS ARRESTED FOR THESE CRIMES AND INSTEAD JUST LET GO, WHEN THEY ARRESTED RODNEY HOWARD-BROWN FOR JUST HAVING CHURCH, AMERICANS DOUBLE STANDARD IS SICKNING, ALONG WITH THESE MINISTERS.
