Rachel-Ruth Lotz Wright, daughter of Bible teacher Anne Graham Lotz and granddaughter of the late evangelist Billy Graham, has enrolled in cardiac rehab after suffering two heart attacks in early January.

In a Wednesday social media post, Anne Graham Lotz called her daughter’s recent health scare “life-threatening” but remained positive. Lotz referred to the experience as a “faith-stretching journey” but also “pure joy.”

Lotz also announced that Wright is enrolling in cardiac rehab at North Carolina Heart and Vascular Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. This follows Wright’s initial week-long hospital stay and two weeks of home-based recovery.

Lotz called the upcoming rehab “a critical first step towards recovery.”

About a month ago, Wright experienced a heart attack and was admitted to the Raleigh hospital within hours. She then experienced a subsequent heart attack.

Initially, Lotz reported that her daughter had Broken Heart Syndrome. But she clarified in her January 14 update that Wright had the “extremely serious” condition known as spontaneous coronary artery dissection, or SCAD.

According to Mayo Clinic, this condition “occurs when a tear forms in a blood vessel in the heart.”

Lotz and daughter minister together as Bible teachers through AnGeL Ministries based in Raleigh, N.C. According to Wright’s bio, Wright serves on the board of directors of AnGel Ministries and also leads a weekly Bible study at the University of North Carolina.

Wright and her husband, Steven, have three daughters.

Regarding her daughter’s medical situation, Lotz wrote: “The Light of God’s presence, compassion, wisdom and peace have been present in this darkness.”

Lotz urged supporters to pray for her daughter’s “restoration to full health and strength with no set-backs or complications.” She closed her post citing Psalm 28:7: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me . . .”
