TPUSA reportedly sent right-wing podcaster cease and desist letter

While spreading conspiracy theories about the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, right-wing media personality Candace Owens says the organization has sent her a cease-and-desist letter.

Owens has controversial theories about what led to the tragedy of Kirk’s assassination on Sept. 10, 2025, on the campus of Utah Valley University.

Once a leader at TPUSA, Owens has alleged that the U.S. government and Israel are behind Kirk’s death. She contends that TPUSA’s own leaders betrayed Kirk and might have been behind his death. She also claims the organization has committed financial fraud.

In a podcast episode aired last week, Owens quoted excerpts of a letter that she said TPUSA’s lawyers sent her earlier this month. It reportedly warned Owens to retract her claims that TPUSA and its officials “knew about the assassination beforehand, participated in the assassination day of, or covered up the truth about the assassination after the fact.”

Owens said that TPUSA would have “better luck keeping the sun from rising into the sky than trying to keep me from investigating Charlie Kirk’s assassination.”

Social media posts show what appears to be the clips of the letter, and back up the excerpts Owens shared. The Roys Report (TRR) reached out to Owens, Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, and TPUSA for a copy of the letter but did not receive any response.

Owens also took jabs at Erika Kirk, who now leads the organization.

“It’s gay to send a legal letter,” Owens said. “It’s very gay. You shouldn’t do it. Especially if you can just pick up the phone and call someone.”

The Jan. 21 episode has amassed 1.8 million views on YouTube.

Owens allegedly had agreement with TPUSA

According to Owens’ excerpts of the letter read during the podcast, she had a prior non-disclosure agreement with TPUSA. She agreed not make “any disparaging, false, misleading, or otherwise defamatory comment(s) about TPUSA, and/or its employees, agents, directors, officers, affiliates, programs, or services.”

The NDA, which ended in Dec. 2,  2025, gave her access to support and resources from the organization, Owens said. TPUSA alleges she has breached this agreement with her theories, which she started broadcasting after Kirk’s death..

According to the letter that Owens read:

  • TPUSA said it has made every effort to be available to talk to her about her remarks following the end of this agreement;
  • And TPUSA’s lawyers initially sent Owens a letter in December asking her to make retractions. Following this, the lawyers asked to hold two video calls with Owens in the following weeks;

But Owens contended the latter is not true. She said she has only talked with two people from the organization since then, one of them being Erika Kirk. The two women met for four hours in December to discuss the conflict between them.

Owens doubles down on her theories

After reading excerpts of the letter aloud on her show, Owens argued that TPUSA is trying to hide lies.

“Now, are they protecting one another (from) the mistakes that they made?” she asked. “Are they trying to protect the organization because they know there are some bad eggs?”

She said she is going to stick by the story that TPUSA is engaged in a cover-up regarding Kirk’s death.

She added that it would be “unconscionable” for her to be silent in the wake of Kirk’s public assassination.

She challenged the conservative political organization to just tell her how much money they want from her. She claimed she could raise that amount overnight on a GoFundMe to pay the organization off.  People want to know the truth, she said, so they will pay for Owens to spread it.

“You’re going to see how much, live, how much people actually care about learning what happened on Sept . 10th,” she said. “There are things that you should value above money in life.”

She continued, “My God is not money. Okay? I don’t worship money. I do worship truth. And I would like to know truthfully what took place on September 10th.”

Kirk urges Owens to stop

Kirk has previously addressed Owens’ theories.

At a CBS town hall event in December 2025, Kirk urged Owens to stop peddling her claims. Kirk added that her husband and Owens used to be like brother and sister.

She emphasized TPUSA has not committed any financial fraud and went so far as to have the Treasury Department send her a letter to prove that TPUSA is not under investigation for financial fraud.

That same month, Kirk told FOX News program Outnumbered that she felt righteous anger when she heard conspiracy theories.

 She said that these theorists have taken “nothing” from her and she doesn’t have the time to “address the noise.”

“My silence does not mean that I am complacent,” Kirk said. “My silence does not mean that somehow Turning Point USA and all of the hand-picked staff that loved my husband and my husband loved them is somehow in on it. We are busy building.”

  1. I have been listening to Candace’s pot cast. I am especially interested in who would have killed Charlie Kirk. Honestly, I cannot find anything said about Erika nor Turning Point that Candace has not provided evidence. I do believe Charlie’s murder is a subject that Turning Point would rather ignore. Time will declare all truth.

    1. Tyler Robinson was the one that shot and killed Charlie Kirk. According to his own testimony he was fed up with his ‘hateful rhetoric’. There is no dark conspiracy, no international plot just a straightforward assassination by a single individual.

      So no need to call the X-Files on this one.

  2. Wow. I think Erica means well but she was not positioned to pick up the baton other than being married to Charlie. She is very smart and articulate but claims what others say does not bother her. She immediately announced she forgave Charlie’s killer and yet she plans to hold Candace accountable for every word she says. Then Erica makes nice with Nicki Minaj which is interesting. A woman who stood for staying home and raising children is now roaming the world selling books and TPUSA.

  3. I am particularity bothered by the normalization of conspiracies in Americana. Once upon a time Conspiracism was on the fringes of American culture but now it’s too widespread. It’s now promoted by social media influencers and even politicians all the way to the top.
