A church in North Las Vegas is mourning the death of one of its pastors, who was shot following an alleged disagreement with someone in his condominium complex, according to news station KLAS.

Killed in the shooting was Nick Davi, pastor of operations at Grace Point Church.

Police received reports around 3:30 p.m. Friday that gunshots were fired from a home in the Courts at Aliante condominium community in North Las Vegas, KLAS reported.

Following the shooting, two people were taken to the hospital—Davi and an unidentified woman. Davi passed away due to his injuries. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the altercation, KLAS said.

Police arrested 36-year-old Joe Junio on charges of open murder and attempted murder, KLAS reported. She also is reportedly facing charges of child abuse and/or neglect, and discharging a firearm where a person might be endangered, KLAS added.

“There was a disagreement that had happened, and it turned into something major,” Jennifer Clark, who lives in the area, told KLAS. “It’s an unfortunate situation to have this in our usually quiet community.”

Clark added, “We’re hoping that our community can pull through.”

Junio and the Davi family lived in the same condominium building, according to KLAS. However, it is unclear what events led to the shooting.

Davi and his wife, who had two children, were known for being invested in their community, KLAS reported.

Davi had served as a pastor at Grace Point Church since 2014, according to his staff perfil on the church website. At Grace Point, Davi oversaw the daily operations of the church, various serving teams, and maintained the 30,000 square-foot building.

“It is with great sorrow that we share the tragic loss of Pastor Nick Davi,” the church posted on its Facebook page. “Nick was a husband, father, son, brother, pastor, friend, and most importantly, a brother in Christ.”

During this past Sunday’s servicio, Ty Neal, pastor of preaching and vision, said, “We’ve lost a brother. We’ve lost a pastor. We’ve lost a friend.” Neal urged church members to lean on each other, worship God, and grieve together.

Tim Fraiser, Pastor of Discipleship, added that he didn’t have words to describe the tragedy. He explained that normally Davi was the one who knew what to say in moments like this.

“Pastor Nick is one of the most pastoral pastors you will ever meet because he has this unique ability to be with people,” Fraiser said. “He knew how to be present. He knew how to just sit with someone in these moments.”

Friends have shared on social media condolences for Davi.

“Nick Davi you were like a brother to me. Only God knows the reason why you left this world way too soon. Rest In Heaven my friend,” James Scruggs al corriente En facebook.

Junio is scheduled to appear in court at 8:00 a.m. this Sunday.

Violence in this part of the Las Vegas area has recently increased, neighbors told KLAS. The surge has led to community members feeling unsettled. Local resident Jae Dino said, “There’s been a lot of violence, and it’s shocking.”
