The murder of a North Las Vegas pastor was caught on video by one of his children, according to a wrongful death suit recently filed by the pastor’s widow and obtenido por El Informe Roys (TRR).

The suit was filed by Sarah Davi whose husband, Nick Davi, pastor of operations at Grace Point Church, was fatally shot on December 29, 2023, as TRR previamente reportado. Sarah Davi also was wounded in the incident, which the couple’s children reportedly witnessed.

Police have charged Joe Junio, 36, with open murder with a deadly weapon in connection with Nick Davi’s death. Junio also is facing charges of open murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder with a deadly weapon, two charges of child abuse involving a deadly weapon, and discharging of a firearm where a person might be endangered, according to court arrest records.

The wrongful death suit alleges that Junio shot Davi, 46, in a dispute over complaints the Davi filed against Junio with their homeowner’s association.

“Grace Point Church and North Las Vegas lost a valuable member of the community, and a family lost their husband and father,” the suit said. “This suit seeks to hold all those responsible civilly accountable for their actions.”

The couple had reported Junio to their condominium homeowner’s association (HOA) for violating rules relating to chickens and dogs, according to a police report obtained by the Las Vegas Review Journal. The HOA then shared these complaints with Junio. This caused her to have “escalating threatening behavior” toward the pastor, his wife, and their two children, ages 12 and 15, the police report added.

The couple called local police twice in December about Junio, according to the police report. In one instance, Junio allegedly threw rocks into their yard and “ran her finger across her throat in a cutting motion and told them they were next,” the police report said.

In another instance, Junio was accused of throwing feces in the couple’s yard and flooding their home.

The couple had filed a restraining order against Junio and had been staying elsewhere before the killing, the police report said.

The shooting resulted from an encounter between Junio and the Davi family outside the parties’ homes on Dec. 29, according to the wrongful death suit. Junio was sitting in her car in her driveway and talking with the pastor when she suddenly got out of her vehicle and approached him, the suit said.

 At that point, one of the victims’ children started recording on her phone, the suit said.

Junio then shot at the family, hitting Davi and his wife, according to the suit. Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the pastor later died from his injuries.

The wrongful death suit claims that Junio wasn’t the rightful owner of the gun and did not have a license to carry a gun.

Additionally, while the condo complex and HOA are not named in the lawsuit, the suit claims that the HOA “knew or should have known that Defendant would likely perform violent actions against deceased and Plaintiff as a result of ongoing association dispute.”

The wrongful death lawsuit is asking for a jury to award damages above $15,000—the standard minimum in Nevada civil suits, according to 8 News Now.

Junio is currently in custody at the Clark County Detention Center on $300,000 bail, according to registros de la corte.

Pastor Davi impacted “countless people”

A GoFundMe cuenta has raised more than $100,00 to support the Davi family. The account said that the pastor “touched the lives of countless people in his short time with us.”

It added that, “We are all shocked and saddened by this senseless tragedy.”

Davi had served as a pastor at Grace Point Church since 2014, TRR previously reported. At Grace Point, Davi oversaw the daily operations of the church, led various serving teams, and maintained the 30,000-square-foot building.  

Grace Point held a memorial service for the pastor on Jan. 15, according to a Facebook correo.

Friends and family responded to the post with condolences and support for the family.

“You could tell he was such an amazing father and person,” Lily Pie Andrews commented on the church’s post. She said at one point she was a neighbor of the family and had “always had an awful feeling” about her other neighbor, Junio. “This is so heartbreaking, he did not deserve this and neither did his family and loved ones,” Andrews continued.

Faster Edward commented on the post, “When I was stationed at Nellis and attended Grace Point I remember always joking around with Pastor Nick. He was a kind man and very much embodied Jesus. This (is) absolutely heartbreaking to hear.”
