A pastor in Oklahoma was beat up and left with a cracked skull, after a father reportedly witnessed the man inappropriately touching his son at a bus stop.
Oklahoma Police arrested the suspect, Michael Coghill, 33, a pastor at Lakehoma Church of Christ in Mustang, Oklahoma, and charged him with lewd acts to a child.
According to Oklahoma City Police, the nine-year-old victim told his father that Coghill had visited his bus stop on Monday and touched him in a way that made him feel uncomfortable. On Wednesday, the father went to the bus stop and waited in his car to see if Coghill would show up and assault the boy.
While the boy was walking to the stop, Coghill, who was out jogging, reportedly stopped and approached the boy, police said.
“While he was watching the school bus stop, our suspect ran by him, ran past the bus stop where the children were waiting. Turned around, came back and stopped where he touched the child,” Sgt. Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department said.

Police say the father then ran after Coghill and tackled him to the ground. When police showed up, Coghill was bloodied and had injuries to his head and face.
Lakehoma Church of Christ issued a statement, saying the church is “heartbroken to learn of the incident involving one of our adult ministers and our hearts go out to the child and family involved. We were shocked at this news as (Coghill) had a clean background check, and we have received no reports or claims against him during his tenure.”
The church added that it has “no tolerance for abuse” and is meeting this week to discuss next steps.
Residents in the area say they’re stunned.
“There’s hardly any words that are camera appropriate,” said Lisa Ward, a parent whose daughters wait at the same bus stop as the victim. “It’s just sickening.”
