Promise Keepers Canada Rebrands As Impactus for the Digital Age

Promise Keepers Canada has rebranded as Impactus, following a three-year transformation process aimed at staying relevant in the ever-changing world of ministry.

For years, Promise Keepers Canada had been interchangeable with its conferences, but a shift in attendance patterns prompted crucial conversations about the ministry’s future direction. They realized it was time for a change.

The name ‘Impactus’ was introduced in 2020, which the ministry says represents a desire to become a global, digital ministry with a focus on targeting younger generations of men.

“Our transitional plan to become Impactus was prayerful, intentional, and out of respect for the incredible legacy of the ministry. This time of transition also prepared us strategically for a world of new ministry opportunities,” said Dean Brenton, president of Impactus.

Impactus is a Latin word that means to “press closely into something.” This word was chosen because ministry leaders say they believe that when men press closely into their walk with Jesus and allow Him to press into their lives, the godly impact on marriages, families, workplaces, and communities becomes undeniable.

The organization says that over the past three years, Impactus has invested in developing high-quality digital resources for men and men’s ministry leaders.

Ministry leaders report the PK Canada website and social media channels have reached hundreds of thousands of men, marking a shift towards a digital-first approach. While they’re embracing the digital era and forming global partnerships, Impactus says it isn’t forgetting its roots. They’ll continue to host in-person conferences and events across Canada to ensure they remain a presence in the lives of Canadian men.

“While our name is changing, our ministry vision remains the same: to see every man becoming, growing, and living as a disciple of Christ,” said Brenton.

Impactus claims it is now better equipped than ever to achieve this mission, adapting its methods to suit a rapidly changing world and resonate with a new generation of men.

The organization says Impactus isn’t just a name change; it represents a renewed commitment to empowering men to lead purposeful lives that make a positive impact.

  1. “…when men press closely into their walk with Jesus and allow Him to press into their lives, the godly impact on marriages, families, workplaces, and communities becomes undeniable.”

a lot of words that said absolutely nothing.

press closely into their walk with Jesus — haven’t a clue what that means

allow Him to press into their lives — haven’t a clue what that means

godly impact — is that different from regular impact? what is the impact? what happens?

the impact becomes undeniable — what does that mean, especially since we don’t even know
    what the impact is?

  2. “While our name is changing, our ministry vision remains the same: to see every man becoming, growing, and living as a disciple of Christ,” said Brenton

let’s be clear — it’s to groom men to conform to a mold based on an institution’s cherry-picked theology.

it’s a safe bet that it’s almost entirely based on conjectures from writings attributed to Paul.

  3. “a renewed commitment to empowering men to lead purposeful lives that make a positive impact.”
    ——————-

my agnostic cousins and muslim male friends lead very purposeful lives that make a positive impact, and are very Christ-like. I observe the same in buddhist men.

the only thing that is missing is the christianese lingo & christian culture body language.

  4. “Impactus”?
I can’t stop thinking about that fad in Edgy Trendoid church names from a couple years ago.

What was originally a Baptist church a block from me (1960s-vintage A-frame building) went through two or three Edgy Trendy names in as many years, most of them showing NO indication that this was a church. And all forgettable; the only one I remember was “Portal”.

Nothing gets stale faster than Over-Relevance.

P.S. More sinister, the USSR’s internal security services were also into changing their names and rebranding, from ChEKA to OGPU to NKVD to KGB (and after the USSR, to FSB). But whatever the latest name and brand, the GULAG liquidation quotas were met and exceeded without interruption.

  5. Wow. I didn’t think “to see every man becoming, growing, and living as a disciple of Christ,” would be so triggering to the Christian community. The responses here are indicative of a BIG problem regarding the condition of the American Church. Too bad “https://julieroys.com/lgbtq-conference-hosted-by-andy-stanleys-church-faces-evangelical-criticism/” didn’t evoke such emotions.

  6. Reading the comments makes me wonder if I’m missing something: what’s so controversial about Promise Keepers?
    Genuinely curious.

  7. I was wondering the same thing. What is so wrong with the name and the purpose. My husband went to Promise Keepers years ago and he came home a better husband and father he had learned so much. Is that not of favour anymore ?
