Author and former reality TV star, Jill Duggar Dillard, and her husband, Derick Dillard, are mourning the loss of their daughter, Isla Marie, who was delivered stillborn.

On Sunday, the couple posted a family update via social media. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie,” they stated.

The baby was lost four months into Jill’s pregnancy.

“From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby,” the couple said. “Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world.”

Jill and Derick asked for prayers as they “continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie.”

Previously, in October 2021, the couple announced that Jill had experienced a miscarriage early in her pregnancy. To the child in utero, whom they believed was “in the presence of the Lord,” they posted online: “We love & miss you.”

The couple has previously shared photos of their three boys.

In recent years, Duggar Dillard has been outspoken about breaking away from the teachings of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), a fundamentalist ministry which influenced her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. Dillard is also a sexual abuse survivor.

Last fall, in her best-selling book, Counting The Cost, Duggar Dillard exposed alleged exploitation that she experienced as a child and into her adult years, due to Jim Bob Duggar’s contract with reality TV producers.

The book recounts tense conversations with her parents, which in part precipitated the Dillard family’s move to Oklahoma. A practicing attorney, Derick Dillard works as assistant district attorney of Oklahoma where he advocates for victims’ rights.

Duggar Dillard and her husband participated in Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, a four-part docuseries that investigated IBLP ideology and the fallout from its practices. The series became Prime Video’s most popular docuseries to date.

“I know there will be naysayers, but I feel called to do this,” she said in an interview.
