A young man from Oklahoma has gone above and beyond to make sure kids in his home state and beyond receive a gift this Christmas.

19-year-old Reed Marcum, a college freshman, got the idea to start a toy drive in 2016 when he found out a classmate’s family was struggling financially and would have to go without gifts that year.

That year, he hosted the toy drive as part of his 4-H project. It has grown significantly since then.

This year, Marcum had over 200 volunteers come alongside him to help hand out gifts to more than 10,000 children.

“Thank you, Pastor Terren Anderson, from Life Church, for always praying over every one of our events within a moment’s notice. Without the Lord first & our community, this event would never have taken place,” said Reed’s mother, Angie Gardner Miller, on Facebook.

The toy drive has grown so large over the years that they use a drive-through set up on giveaway day.

Not only does the child receive a brand-new toy, but they also get a pair of pyjamas, gloves, hats, socks and underwear. They also receive a delicious meal while waiting in line.

Since his toy drive started in 2016, Reed has been able to hand out over 54,000 toys.
