Jerry Falwell Jr. Claims He’s in “Constant Communication with University Leadership,” Letter States

By Julie Roys
Jerry Falwell, Jr.

Jerry Falwell, Jr., may have resigned from Liberty University, but he reportedly hasn’t left. At least, that’s what a letter from Liberty General Counsel David M. Corry to key staff members indicates.

In the letter, Corry states that one news reporter said that Falwell claimed to be in “constant communication with University leadership and is assisting in running the University.” Corry adds that “various staff members” have been contacted by Falwell and “some of these calls have been uncomfortable.”

“This impression is not well received by our supporters who do not want Mr. Falwell to be running Liberty University behind the scenes,” Corry states.

He then informs staff that all advice or information needed by Liberty from Falwell must come through Interim President Jerry Prevo. Corry also instructs staff not to provide information about the university to Falwell, nor to take “direction or orders about the University from Falwell” nor to perform “tasks” or “favors” for Falwell.

Falwell resigned from the school last week amid scandal concerning an alleged sexual relationship his wife and Jerry Falwell had with a young pool attendant.

I reached out to Falwell for comment about the letter, but he did not respond by the time of publication.

  1. Not an unusual reaction for someone who had a position of authority who was dismissed. Especially under not honorable circumstances. Can also be a reaction from subordinates who were dismissed. They often try to solicit support from their former staff and colleagues. They may also attempt to sow discord. This can also occur in Churches when a Pastor or Senior Church person is dismissed. In time hope the calls end. They usually do. But, in the meantime they can be disconcerting.

    1. An AWOL Board is the only way its former University President providing now so much ongoing
salacious content for the readers of the New York Post.

  2. Jeremiah 23:1
But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies; they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns from his evil; all of them have become like Sodom to me, and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”

Falwell’s adulterous and lying character has been revealed to the world. The next step is to root out the evildoers whose hands he sought to strengthen.

  3. Sounds like LU needs to take care of the nepotism still left behind. Will Trey Falwell continue to be directing facilities/contract work to the Falwell friends and family? Jerry Jr’s family still holds a lot of influence and power at LU that he can use indirectly.

    1. If I recall correctly, almost all of the jobs the Falwell clan has would appear to be of the advisory or assistant variety, which even if they are not nepotism, wouldn’t be hard to find surplus to requirements, where necessary.

    2. According to a Reuters story today:

“Liberty employed a private firm – JF Management – formed by Jerry “Trey” Falwell III, Falwell’s elder son, to manage university properties. The company received more than $58,000 in compensation in 2017, according to the school’s most recent public filing of tax form 990 with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Trey Falwell also serves as a Liberty vice president, with total compensation from the university of $189,000 a year, according to the tax filings.

Falwell’s other son, Wesley, drew compensation in 2017 from Liberty of $54,744, the filings show. Laura Falwell, Wesley’s wife, earned $57,751 that year from Liberty, and Sarah Falwell, Trey’s wife, earned $63,315.”

      1. The Falwell family and their relatives sure do have nice, cushy, very well-compensated jobs.

It reminds me of ravenous Wolf James Macdonald and how his sons were in Key oversight positions at Harvest Rolling Meadows. And they were very well-compensated too!!

When the truly independent Board finally weeds out the rampant nepotism and sick corruption, how much $$$$ do you really think these nepotistic relatives are going to earn somewhere else at a different company in the real world?

Imagine a Falwell relative going to a different company and saying, “I am used to earning this much per year!!”

The hiring Manager will laugh at them.

  4. This is vintage Corry. Kind of like the email that he told me he sent out that appears to have kept “independent” Title IX from responding to me.

  5. More news from Reuters today:

“After initially referring questions to his legal and public relations representatives, Falwell called Reuters late Wednesday afternoon and said he looked forward to the Liberty investigation. “I welcome it because it will prove that all you guys are liars,” he said, referring to members of the media. “You got nothing.”

He also warned Reuters not to question his two adult sons, both of whom still have jobs at Liberty. “Trust me,” Falwell said during the call, “you do not want to mess with me, OK?”

What a thug. Liberty University will soon ask itself how they ever tolerated his malevolent presence.

    1. Those quotes are among the most shocking things to have come out. He’s a petty thug making threats to other people.

  6. Sidebar: Michael Cohen in his book ‘Disloyal” has some interesting Falwell interactions including obtaining exclusive Justin Bieber tickets for them. Disturbing is how a Liberty University techie was used twice to inflate Trump in polling using fake email addresses.
